Ireland’s top CFOs were acknowledged last night at the launch of the CFO 100 edition of Business & Finance at The Marker Hotel.
At the event, chief financial officers (CFOs) were commended, not only for their achievements and contributions in businesses across Ireland, but also their innovation, which goes far beyond the boundaries of financial acumen.
The evening represented an opportunity to reflect on how far national and global businesses across Ireland have come under the direction and strategic vision of their CFOs.
Regardless of the company size, the CFO can bring a lot more to the table than just financial expertise. The financial management, innovation and continued contributions to Irish business will help shape the Irish business environment for years to come.
Speaking at the event, Ian Hyland, publisher and CEO, Business & Finance, commented: “The CFO 100 is about recognising and valuing the achievements of the people that ensure the financial and operational success of some of Ireland’s most prominent companies. After an insightful talk from JP Hughes, chief commercial officer at Friends First, Ian Hyland welcomed special honouree Alex Gersh, CFO of Paddy Power Betfair to the stage.
Gersh and his team have progressed hugely in recent months with the merger of the two fasting-growing online betting operators in the world: Paddy Power and Betfair.
Hyland added: “Undeniably, Alex’s evident knowledge, experience and ability will continue the glorious heritage of each of these companies. As an intellect and innovator, it is clear that Paddy Power Betfair will continue its skyrocketing success.”
