The leading players in Ireland’s emerging fintech landscape were celebrated last night at the launch of the Business & Finance Fintech Ireland digital index at the National College of Ireland in Dublin in association with Irish Life Health.

The Irish fintech industry combines technology and innovation in the financial services sector, from big data, payments, trading, risk, compliance and business intelligence to currency and lending.

The sector is characterised by a culture of innovation, which has led to the establishment of many globally successful firms.

Last night, at the National College of Ireland, a panel discussion moderated by Peter Oakes (founder of Fintech Ireland and non-Executive Director of Transfermate Global Payments) examined how the industry is emerging in Ireland and what trends are emerging worldwide.

Panel speakers on the night included: Charles Dowd, CEO of Plynk; Nikki Evans, founder and Managing Director of Perfect Card; Geraldine Gibson, CEO of AQ Metrics; Joao Reginatto, Director of Operations Europe for Circle; and Anthony Rafferty, Director of EMEA Merchant Operations at PayPal.
