CarTrawler, the world’s leading car rental marketplace, has today announced the creation of 400 new jobs over the next three years at its Dundrum headquarters.

The first phase of 200 hires has already commenced across a range of high quality functions including senior roles in business development, customer operations, data science, finance and engineering.

To enable the company’s ongoing growth, CarTrawler will also be opening a new International Customer Centre of Excellence in Dundrum supporting customers in 174 countries. The announcement was made this afternoon by An Taoiseach Enda Kenny TD, Minister for Jobs Richard Bruton TD and Mike McGearty, CarTrawler CEO.

McGearty said:“We have firmly established our position as one of the travel-tech industry’s top employers. We continue to invest in our technology and our team to ensure that we remain the driving force behind car rental worldwide. We are very pleased to be able to create these new roles in our country of origin which will help to showcase our home grown Irish business on the international stage.”

Gillian French, chief people officer of CarTrawler, said: “The key to running a successful high tech business is knowing that technology matters but that people matter more. We’re really passionate about what we do and recognise the importance of investing in the growth of our people. For us, it’s about cultural fit and attitude, not just academic credentials. Our recruitment process is already underway and we expect to have approximately 200 positions filled by early 2015.”

Welcoming the announcement, An Taoiseach said: “CarTrawler is a great example of an indigenous Irish company competing and succeeding in a global market. The announcement today of an additional 400 jobs for Ireland is hugely encouraging and very welcome. The Government is focused on securing recovery by continuing strong job creation so that people who have yet to feel the benefit of the country’s improving economy can look forward to a better future. This type of indigenous company growth is what the Government’s Action Plan for Jobs is all about and we will continue to provide strong policy support so that innovative companies like CarTrawler can create much-needed jobs in Ireland.”

Julie Sinnamon, CEO, Enterprise Ireland welcomed the jobs announcement adding: “CarTrawler is a role model for ambitious, highly innovative Irish companies to follow. They are a great example of how it is possible for an Irish company to develop into an international company of scale, with positions in global markets. Enterprise Ireland will continue to work with CarTrawler as they grow their international footprint, creating sustainable jobs in Ireland.”
