Powerscourt Distillery will create 18 full-time jobs in the process and also hopes to produce a million bottles of whiskey per year at the Powerscourt Estate in Co Wicklow.

Local entrepreneurs Gerry Ginty and Ashley Gardiner are co-founders of the project, which will refurbish the estate’s old mill house into a distillery.

The distillery will have the potential to produce more than one million bottles of whiskey per year.

The distillery is in discussions with domestic and international investors and will look to close a second €5m funding after It €3m was raised earlier this year.

The Powerscourt estate welcomes 500,000 visitors each year, which Ginty and Gardiner will surely be hoping to take advantage of over the coming years.
