Huade Chen, Deputy President, Irish Fujian Business Association, takes on the Business & Finance 60-second interview challenge.


Q. What was your first job?

My first job in China was selling electronic language repeaters and when I came to Ireland I worked in a logistics warehouse in Dublin.

Q. What would you regard as your greatest achievement to date?

On a professional level, I’m very proud to have challenged myself to uproot from China and settle down in a new country. In doing so, I’ve integrated into Ireland learning English and have set up two successful and ever-growing companies: Easy2Go Logistics and Easy Motion through which I have engaged a large amount of trade between Ireland and China.

On a personal level, I have started a beautiful family with my wife and two children, all of whom bring me endless joy.

Q. In three words or less, how do you define success?

Perseverance, hard work and gratitude.

Q. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

Be a good man before you do something.

Q. How do you motivate yourself and your staff?

Being self-employed I have a personal interest vested in my companies – my self-motivation is endless. I do everything in my power to inspire my team to achieve our goals and develop themselves both personally and professionally through all the challenges we face.

Q. If you could step into the shoes of one business person for the day, who would it be and why?

Jack Ma, the Founder and Executive Chairman of Alibaba Group. He is a true visionary of the online world. He always sticks to what he believes in and acts accordingly.

Q. How do you relax?

I practice the art of tea-making. I really enjoy it and it can help me attain lasting inner peace.

Q. What’s your motto?

Be who you want to be, not what others want you to be.

Q. What are your aspirations for the future of your business?

To grow my logistics company into the largest logistics hub between China and Europe.
