The Kerry-headquartered multinational financial services provider continues to grow and announces 175 new jobs, seeing it awarded Business & Finance‘s Company of the Month for June 2018.

Fexco is Ireland’s most successful multinational financial and business solutions provider, with operations in 29 countries worldwide. Headquartered in Killorglin in Co Kerry, it was established in 1981 and now employs over 2,300 people (1,000 of them in Killorglin) processing more than $10bn in transactions every year. It has operations in 29 countries, and recently announced plans to go live with three new banking partners in seven African markets.

The company was founded by former bank manager Brian McCarthy in 1981 when he spotted an opportunity in the foreign exchange market, inspired by the volumes of foreign tourists passing through the Kerry town.

Denis McCarthy has been CEO of Fexco since January 2015, previously serving as non-executive director at the foreign exchange company.

A Trinity College Dublin mathematics graduate, he has worked as a software engineer at Omnipay and as managing director at Annadale Technologies and Aviso Novate, both of which he founded.

New Jobs

Fexco recently announced it will be creating 175 jobs over the next three years at its headquarters in Killorglin, Co Kerry.

The jobs will be in the areas of information and communication technology, software development and sales as part of the payment firm’s expansion strategy.

Speaking about the jobs announcement, Denis McCarthy said,

Those seeking new opportunities outside of the major cities can enjoy the benefits of our unique location including access to a variety of housing, schools and third level institutes, social amenities, state of the art transport infrastructure, significantly reduced traffic volumes and of course one of the most beautiful vistas in the world.”

Welcoming the jobs announcement, Minister for Enterprise Heather Humphreys said that Fexco was “synonymous with innovation and progression”.

Enterprise Ireland CEO Julie Sinnamon said the company’s presence in the south west of the country makes “an important contribution to prosperity at regional level”.
