Former Taoiseach Enda Kenny to take up first business-related role since leaving office

Enda Kenny is to be the chairman of an advisory council for a private equity group, VentureWave Capital. Kieran McLoughlin, former president and chief executive of The Ireland Funds has been appointed CEO. Alan Foy of Blueface is listed as Chairman of VentureWave Capital.

Impact investing

The group will focus on impact investing which ‘backs companies that have excellent growth and financial return potential, wile also meeting social and economic needs.’ Companies that they will focus on cover clean energy, educational technology or medical devices.

Investing in Ireland

The group is based in Dublin and plans to re-headquarter and manage portfolio companies in Ireland as ‘Ireland represents one of the strongest locations for global companies with a strong pro-business climate, highly advantageous R&D rebate structures, a common legal system with the US and UK, access to talent and global trade agreements. In addition there is excellent access to growth capital.’
