Business & Finance highlights notable new appointments at BDM Boylan, DCC plc and the Association of Higher Civil and Public Servants

BDM Boylan, has announced the appointment of Colm Manning as Partner to head up its Commercial team. A specialist commercial lawyer Colm previously worked with and gained extensive experience in two other leading commercial firms. This was after studying Law at UCD and doing a Masters in Corporate and Commercial Law. Colm regularly lectures and presents to industry representative bodies around Munster about various aspects of commercial law. He has brought a bank of his own clients to his new firm including multinational companies and SMEs. Colm is also very active in the Munster start-up space.
Commenting on his appointment Mr. Manning said: “I am delighted with the opportunity to head up the expansion of BDM Boylan’s Commercial Department. There is a huge increase in demand for legal services among the corporate and business owner community. I specialise in mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and venture capital, corporate restructuring, joint ventures, business contracts and commercial advisory work, including relating to data protection and data security which are very topical at the moment.”
Mark Breuer, Non-executive Director
DCC plc
DCC plc, the international sales, marketing and support services group, announces the appointment of Mr. Mark Breuer as a non-executive Director and a member of the Audit Committee with effect from 9 November 2018.
Mark is a highly experienced corporate financier and has operated at senior levels in the UK and abroad. He has worked in investment banking for thirty years, the past twenty of which have been for JPMorgan. During his career, he served in numerous client facing and management roles, delivering mergers and acquisitions and broader corporate finance advice to both domestic and international clients. Mark retired from JPMorgan in 2017. Mark is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, having qualified in 1987, and has a B.A. from Vassar College in the US.

Paul Malone, Deputy General Secretary
Association of Higher Civil and Public Servants
Mr Paul Malone has been appointed as the new Deputy General Secretary of the Association of Higher Civil and Public Servants (AHCPS). His appointment was confirmed by the Association’s Executive Committee following an open competitive process.
Mr Malone’s former roles include Head of Human Resources in the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government where he was responsible for people and organisation development. He also held a number of senior HR roles at SOLAS/FÁS.
With over 20 years of experience in HR across the public service, Mr Malone brings considerable experience to the role of Deputy General Secretary. Originally from the Curragh, Co Kildare and now living in Bettystown, Co Meath, Paul is a graduate of Dublin City University where he was awarded with a B.A in Communication Studies, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education and Training Management and an MSc in Human Resource Strategies. He also holds a Certificate in Personnel Practice (CIPD) from National College of Ireland.
Ciaran Rohan, General Secretary of the AHCPS said; “Paul brings significant experience to the role of Deputy General Secretary and I look forward to working with him as we represent the needs of our 3,200 members across the civil and public service.
