By Business & Finance The Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD today announced that Information Technology Shared Services, a division of Johnson & Johnson Services, Inc., plans to create up to 100 new jobs through the creation of a Development Centre at the National Technology Park, Plassey, Limerick.
Recruitment for these highly skilled, information technology positions will start immediately, and the positions are expected to be filled over the next two years.
Making the announcement Minister Bruton, who has met Johnson & Johnson a number of times in Ireland and the USA since taking office, said: “Today’s announcement that Johnson & Johnson, one of the biggest names in the corporate world, is creating a further 100 jobs in Limerick to add to the 2000 people they already employ across Ireland, is a great boost. Multinational investment plays a key part in our jobs plan, and in recent years we have seen a very strong performance in this area. I wish Johnson &Johnson every success with this project, and look forward to working with them as they continue to develop their operations in Ireland.”

The Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies has had a significant presence in Ireland since 1935 and currently employs over 2,000 people in Dublin, Cork and Limerick. Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, (Ireland) Limited, was established in Limerick in 1996. It currently employs 900 people in the manufacture of ACUVUE® range of soft disposable contact lenses—the world’s number one brand.
Last April, Ethicon Biosurgery Ireland, part of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies announced plans to develop a €80m state-of-the-art manufacturing facility providing approximately 270 jobs, also at the National Technology Park, Plassey, Limerick.
