Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD today welcomed the announcement by new Franchise Nom Nom Subs that it is to create more than 60 new jobs as part of its franchise development.

The first Nom Nom Subs store was launched in Pearse Street Station in December 2013, and new roles will be developed in Franchise, marketing, store management, retail and production operatives over the next 18 months.

The Nom Nom Subs franchise has been developed by Complete Cuisine, a family run business with more than 40 years’ experience within the food industry. The franchise concept began initiation in 2011 and since then there has been an investment by Complete Cuisine of more than €500,000 to date in developing this new venture.

Following the successful opening of its first store on Westland Row in Dublin, Nom Nom Subs now plans further store openings. It is estimated that Nom Nom Subs will create over 60 new jobs over the coming 18 month period as a result of 10 new store openings nationwide. Ten full-time jobs will be created directly with the opening of the first store with numerous part-time roles during the launch stage.

Making the announcement, Minister Bruton said: “This is a very welcome announcement by Complete Cuisine. Domestic retail is a sector which has suffered during the crisis, but in the past 12 months we have started seeing positive signs again. Here is a dynamic Irish company, spotting a gap in the market, developing an innovative product to fill it and creating jobs as a result. I wish them every success with this project.”

The €500,000 investment figure includes the creation and development of the brand, market research including consumer and Retailer focus group sessions, retail fit out, staff training, and food and menu development.

Unlike some competitors, Nom Nom Subs’ customers have the knowledge that the revenue from its sales remain in Ireland. There are over 14 food companies producing and supplying for Nom Nom Subs and all these companies are located in Ireland. Dermot Hanrahan, Sales Director, Complete Cuisine, felt that there was a gap in the market for a brand such as Nom Nom Subs and is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in investing in a ready-made franchise.

“With so many international brands coming to our shore we decided that in the current economic climate we wanted to develop a 100% Irish franchise which would contribute to the Irish economy to help in creating and sustaining employment,” said Dermot Hanrahan.
