Free Wi-Fi launched on Grafton Street
Dublin, 1st July 2012: (l-r) Shane Deasy, Managing Director and Alex French, Operational Director, Bitbuzz announce the introduction of free Bitbuzz Wi-Fi on Grafton Street. Grafton Street has become the first street in Ireland to offer a fully managed complimentary Wi-Fi service to the public, using a pioneering new service called Bitbuzz Freedom, which provides free Wi-Fi access in outdoor locations. With Bitbuzz Freedom, members of the public can now safely browse the web and check emails from their smartphones on Grafton Street at no cost. Once registered with Bitbuzz, shoppers, passers-by and tourists will all be able to benefit from the service, which will be an undoubted boost to businesses in the area. Bitbuzz Freedom will later be expanded to Henry Street, Smithfield, Temple Bar and the Docklands area. Bitbuzz Freedom will also be available in Cork and Galway later this year.
Bitbuzz Freedom is an expansion of the Bitbuzz service and offers the same quality of service provided in hotels and coffee shops. Designed for smartphone users, Bitbuzz Freedom will provide multiple complimentary 20 minute Wi-Fi sessions. Bitbuzz’s roaming partners will also have access to the service; for example, Three smartphone customers will have unlimited free access to Wi-Fi on Grafton St.
