Recruitment firm, Brightwater has announced the creation of 50 new jobs across its offices in Dublin, Cork and Belfast.

The majority of the new jobs are for consultants with expertise in banking and financial services, IT, insurance, legal, executive, marketing and sales in addition to a small number of support staff.

Established in 1998, Brightwater currently employs over 80 people and provides recruitment consultancy services to both companies and candidates.  The consultancy works with some of the world’s leading brand names as well as small indigenous organisations across all key business sectors.

Commenting on the expansion plans, managing director, David Bloch said: “The fact that we as recruiters are recruiting ourselves underpins the increasing recruitment demands and growing confidence in the Irish economy. While recruitment demands are increasing across the board, we are seeing a particular demand in the areas of IT, banking, legal, HR and office support. In tandem with the increasing confidence in business growth, salary expectations are also increasing and we are seeing anything between a 3% to 10% hike depending on the skills and sector.  The higher end of the scale is particularly relevant to the IT sector where there are vast shortages of key skills and candidates willing to move.”

Bloch added: “In financial services, we’re seeing quite a surge in demand for those with trustee, compliance and regulatory experience as there have been lots of changes in regulation. In banking we are starting to see roles popping up in corporate treasury and transaction banking roles. There are also some smaller boutique investment firms looking to recruit people with key skills and experience.”

In the legal sector there is also huge demand for those with compliance experience as well as in aviation leasing. “There’s a big surge in recruitment for in-house roles because organisations don’t necessarily want to rely on external counsel all the time and they want to keep their external legal bills down.”

HR specialists are also in demand as most of the large organisations are upping their staffing numbers and office support and administration teams across all sectors are being beefed up, according to Bloch.
