Honorees

The Sutherland Leadership Award was established in 2018 with the support of the Sutherland Family to recognise outstanding international leaders who have embodied the values of one of Ireland’s and Europe’s finest leaders, Peter Sutherland. Since its inception, The Sutherland Leadership Award has recognised José Manuel Barroso, former President of the European Commission and Mario Draghi former President of the European Central Bank.

Imelda Hurley, CEO, Coillte, spoke about their support of the new ESG category.

“Living through a climate and biodiversity crisis means that how we do business, support environmental sustainability, deliver for society and enable strong governance has never been more important. At Coillte, we’re focused on creating a sustainable future by balancing the multiple benefits of forestry; forests for climate, for nature, for wood and for people. As a result, ESG is central to everything we do and that is why we’re delighted to be associated with this Business & Finance Award, which will recognise organisations making an exceptional contribution and progress in ESG at a pivotal moment for our planet.”

Ian Hyland, publisher of Business & Finance, spoke about the Awards programme, saying: “The 2021 Business & Finance Awards Programme will embrace and reflect the dynamic global market in which Irish businesses operate, particularly in a post-COVID world. This year’s awards will follow and recognise outstanding entrepreneurs, business leaders and leadership teams on their journey into what is now a new normal for business.”
