Data Solutions is today announcing a new distribution agreement that will bring the Nutanix Virtual Computing Platform to the Irish market for the first time. Nutanix combines server compute with storage in a single hyper-converged appliance, offering much higher performance and scalability for enterprises.

Data Solutions is forecasting additional revenues of €2m in the first year of the new partnership.

Nutanix is one of the world’s fastest growing enterprise technology companies. It provides next generation converged infrastructure to medium and large enterprises which makes scaling the data centre more flexible, predictable and cost effective.

It was founded in 2009 and has already reached a US$1bn valuation. Nutanix estimates the global server and storage virtualisation market to be worth more than US$50bn. The partnership with Data Solutions will enable it to access and cater for that market in Ireland.

Francis O’Haire, director of technology and strategy at Data Solutions said: “We believe that this partnership will be a huge success for everyone involved. Nutanix has been making waves around the world and as we aim to be at the leading edge of technology, we wanted to bring this innovation to the Irish market. The Nutanix offering complements our existing portfolio of partners, particularly the work we are doing with Citrix around virtual desktop infrastructure.

“We are already seeing a lot of interest among our resellers and have received a number of incoming inquiries from end customers.”

Nutanix takes inspiration from the large technology innovators such as Facebook, Amazon and Google who have built their own data centres. It has incorporated similar design principles into its Virtual Computing Platform, solving the cost and complexity issues of legacy network-based storage systems in the data centre, which were not built with virtualisation in mind. Its approach delivers an easy to manage and affordable virtualisation platform that is highly scalable and is now available to all enterprises.

Paul Phillips, regional director at Nutanix added: “As we seek to expand our presence across Europe, Data Solutions is an obvious partner for us as it understands how to build, maintain and grow our channel and will help us to gain a significant foothold in the Irish market.

“Many of our engineers designed and built the infrastructures of the big cloud and web companies, including the architects who created the Google File System. With the Data Solutions partnership we can now provide the scalability and performance capabilities, found in some of the world’s largest and most efficient data centres, to mainstream enterprises in Ireland.”
