Electric Ireland has launched Pay As You Go electricity, now available for both new and existing customers nationwide.

With Pay As You Go, it is now easier for customers to control their electricity usage by purchasing electricity in advance. Day-to-day usage of the Pay As You Go meter from Electric Ireland is simple and straightforward and allows for €5 emergency credit. Details of the remaining credit will be clearly displayed on the screen of the in-home keypad that each Pay As You Go customer will receive.

With an initial installation charge of €99 and no maintenance charge for year one, customers can take control of their electricity costs and avail of a sign up credit of €20, with only 12 cent maintenance fee per day for year two. Customers can top up online here or through Payzone and Paypoint outlets. To get started, customers can call 1850 305 095 and set up an installation time that suits them.

Speaking at the launch of Electric Ireland’s Pay As You Go meters, Ken McKervey, commercial manager, said: “This product is a direct response to our customer needs, we know customers like to be in control of their finances and also have the benefits of monitoring the impact of their energy usage. Electric Ireland already offer the broadest range of payment options for customers and we believe the addition of Pay As You Go electricity provides greater choice for customers and demonstrates our understanding of customer needs.”
