Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton TD today announced the partnership, which aims to expand funding, mentorship and investment opportunities for developers and entrepreneurs.

Dogpatch Labs is a co-working space for scaling technology start-ups, located at Dublin’s Digital Docklands and chq building at Custom House Quay.

This partnership will benefit Dublin start-ups by providing mentoring programmes and access to Google engineers and experts. Dogpatch Labs’ companies will also be eligible for Google product offers relevant to start-ups.

Ronan Harris, head of Google Ireland, said: “As a former start-up ourselves, a passion for entrepreneurship and innovation is in our DNA. With Dogpatch Labs and our Google for Entrepreneurs programme, we hope Dublin’s world-class start-up community will grow that much faster, building transformative products and companies that will take the world by storm.”

Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton TD added: “We have great entrepreneurs in Ireland, but we just don’t have enough of them. A key part of our plan is to provide more soft supports like co-working spaces and mentoring for start-ups. This project will provide more co-working space and more supports for more entrepreneurs in Dogpatch, through the Google for Entrepreneurs network. I am delighted to welcome this really important boost for the start-up environment in Ireland.”

The Google investment comes after recent news that Ulster Bank is to invest in developing over 8,000 sq. ft of new space in the historic 200-year-old vaults below the chq building.

Google also recently announced a new €150m data centre for Dublin that will generate 400 new jobs in the construction phase in west Dublin.
