Grant Thornton launches Irish media practice

Grant Thornton today announces the launch of its media practice headed by newly appointed partner John Gleeson.

Gleeson joins from Crowe Horwath and has extensive experience in advising on and financing film and television projects, raising money for over 175 projects in the last 10 years under the Section 481 tax incentive scheme.

Commenting on his appointment John Gleeson said: “I have been involved in over 60% of the Section 481 financings in recent years and hope to develop this market leading practice within Grant Thornton. However the team will go beyond specialist tax advice and provide a wide range of corporate finance and advisory services to the media and entertainment industry in Ireland.”

Gleeson’s wide ranging experience includes raising funds for productions including three series of the BBC’s Ripper Street,  two series of Vikings, The Guard and numerous Disney animation series for Boulder Media and Brown Bag Films.

Gleeson’s 5-strong media team includes newly appointed director of Media Róisín Henehan. They will work closely with Grant Thornton UK which has over 40 people including seven partners operating in the Media sector in London.
