The video games service provider has continued its expansion with the acquisition of US video game art service Liquid Development.

Keywords Studios is an international technical service provider to the global video game industry. The company, which has an office in Dublin, provides a range of translation, testing, audio, customer care and art production services to game developers and publishers.

Liquid Development specialise in the creation of art assets for the video game industry such as characters, vehicles, landscapes and cityscapes.

The founders of Liquid Development, who will remain with the company after the acquisition is complete, will be paid $6.3m and the remainder of the purchase price in shares.

“The acquisition of Liquid Development significantly increases the scale of our art services business line, giving us greater penetration of this large and strongly growing market as well as increased access to this early entry point in the video games development cycle,” said chief executive, Andrew Day.

“Bringing the two businesses together provides the group with the much needed art capacity and talent to help meet existing strong client demand and enables us to offer more services to more potential and existing clients.”

Liquid Development’s clients include 343 industries, which makes the Halo games franchise, Warner Bros, EA, Microsoft Game Studios and Zynga.
