Aislinn Mahon is Head of Ecosystems at Huckletree. Huckletree operates out of its headquarters in central London and has an office in the Academy building on Pearse street in Dublin. The firm assists companies with their office operations.

What was your first job?

My first ever job was working in Arnotts department store in Dublin from the age of 16 — it was brilliant fun! Post-university, my first role was with Enterprise Ireland in London advising Irish startups targeting the UK market.

What pushed you to pursue a career in this field?

I have always been curious about entrepreneurship and love bringing people together to solve problems.

What would you regard as your greatest achievement to date?

Becoming a parent to my gorgeous son Conall. Nothing beats that.

Career wise, would you do anything differently?

I believe that everything happens for a reason. That’s why I wouldn’t do anything differently; all of our choices and lived experiences make us the person we are today.

In one sentence, how would you define success?

Success is being content, living in the moment and being truly present with yourself and others.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

Lead with a strong back and a soft heart.

How do you motivate yourself and your staff?

Remember the bigger picture! At Huckletree we have an overarching mission to democratise entrepreneurship and to build the most inclusive innovation community in the world — this constantly moves us forward and helps not to get too bogged down in the small stuff.

How do you handle adversity?

I try to remember that resistance is information, and that diversity of mindsets are necessary — I don’t always have to be right.

How do you relax?

To relax I choose something that allows me to be in a state of flow — a yoga class, a walk in nature, a great book or podcast.

What are your aspirations for the future of the business?

We have exciting growth plans in Ireland and the UK. The market opportunity for shared workspace has never been stronger — it’s a good time for our business!
