Ged Nash TD, Minister for Business and Employment, has revealed details today of National Women’s Enterprise Day 2015, which will take place in Galway on Thursday, October 22nd.

National Women’s Enterprise Day 2015, organised by the network of Local Enterprise Offices, is enlisting the support of Irish female entrepreneurs to encourage more women to set up and grow their own businesses.

Speaking at the launch, Minister Nash said: “Female-owned businesses are increasing in number but women are still under-represented in the world of small business. The aim is to inspire, motivate and support women across the country in running their own businesses, which will not only boost female entrepreneurship but will also contribute to further recovery, more jobs and long term economic growth.”

A GEM Monitor Report from last year showed that 37% of women feel they have the necessary skills to start a business, compared to 58% of men in Ireland. Nearly half of women (48%) report a ‘fear of failure’ as an obstacle to engaging in entrepreneurship.
