The third annual report analyses expenditure and tendering activity on goods, services and minor works across public-service bodies (PSBs) in Ireland.

Minister of State for Public Procurement Patrick O’Donovan TD today launched the Office of Government Procurement’s (OGP) Public Service Spend and Tendering Analysis for 2015 report.

A little over €4.5 billion is anlaysed and attributed to three quarters of annual public procurement addressable spend under the scope of the OGP, which brings to light the processes involved in public expenditure. Data show 94% of the State’s expenditure is with companies within the State, which makes tracking and transparency easier to analysis and gather.

Minister O’Donovan said: “Public procurement represents a major opportunity for SMEs. As in 2013 and 2014, the majority of spend analysed is with SMEs. The report shows that in the majority of our spend categories, the typical contract value of tender notices is less than or equal to €100k. This report will help businesses in understanding where the opportunities are”.
