Triona Ryan, Partner, Banking and Finance
Triona has over 13 years’ experience acting on domestic and cross-border transactions, advising both lenders and borrowers, including domestic and international financial institutions, senior and mezzanine lenders, alternative lenders, funds, and corporate borrowers in relation to corporate debt facilities, acquisition financing, real estate financing, debt restructuring and fund financing. She works across a variety of sectors and has particular expertise and interest in the areas of health, life sciences, technology and fund finance, and also has a background in insolvency and corporate restructuring.
Gráinne Murphy, Partner, Litigation and Dispute Resolution
Gráinne has over 10 years’ experience acting for a broad range of public and private sector clients in high value and complex litigation claims across all court jurisdictions including the High Court, the Commercial Court, the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court. She is highly experienced at dealing with urgent ex-parte and injunction applications to the High Court. Gráinne advises clients across a wide range of practice areas including: property litigation, public procurement litigation, contentious construction disputes, banking disputes, defamation and social media litigation, corporate disputes, professional negligence actions, and environmental and planning law. She also acts for clients in other dispute resolution fora including arbitration, mediation and independent expert review process.
Eoin McGlinchey, Partner, Litigation and Dispute Resolution
Eoin has over 15 years’ experience gained both at the Bar of Ireland and in private practice, advising Irish and international clients on complex commercial litigation and regulatory matters. He advises a number of state bodies on litigation and regulatory issues. Eoin is highly experienced in using mediation to resolve disputes for clients quickly and privately, and has advised clients in mediations both domestically and internationally. Eoin is also a specialist in professional disciplinary matters, acting for regulated professionals, such as nurses and teachers, who are the subject of professional disciplinary inquiries and investigations.
Morag McCullagh, Partner, Health and Social Care
Morag has over 10 years’ experience working exclusively in the area of child protection and adoption law, an area of law which encompasses Wardship, Administrative Law and Constitutional law. This is a complex area which includes providing legal opinions, conducting advocacy on a daily basis, negotiating, drafting and advising with regard to statutory obligations both within and outside the court arena. The advices provided often span other areas such as mental health, data protection and immigration.
Fiona Wood, Partner, Health and Social Care
Fiona has over 10 years’ expertise in the area of child care, covering a broad range of services including Administrative Law, Constitutional Law, European Law, Mental Health Law and novel applications under the Ward of Court Legislation. She advises on all aspects of child protection legislation including the Child Care Act 1991 and the Children’s Acts 1997 and 2001. Fiona also has a strong record of defending Judicial Review of statutory decisions and has been involved in a number of seminal cases in the area of Special Care to date. She has recently been involved in novel proceedings securing interim orders under the Child Care Act 1991.
Daniel Holohan, Partner, Corporate
Daniel has over 10 years’ experience advising both Irish and international clients on a wide range of transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, corporate governance matters, and private equity/venture capital. He advises on corporate matters and is a trusted strategic advisor to entrepreneurs, business owners, investors and public sector bodies. Daniel also advises on general commercial arrangements, and has extensive experience advising Irish sporting bodies on all corporate and commercial matters.
Zelda Deasy, Partner, Corporate, Privacy & Data Protection
Zelda advises clients on all data protection related matters, including data sharing and data processing agreements, online terms and conditions, privacy & cookies policies and data protection policies. She advises on data subject access requests, data protection impact assessments and gap analyses, e-privacy/direct marketing requirements, data protection by design, data protection relating to corporate transactions, and general data protection advisory and compliance work. Zelda also advises on commercial contracts across a wide range of sectors. Her clients include public and private sector organisations of all sizes from start-ups and SMEs to large domestic and multi-national corporates and public bodies.

Maples and Calder LLP (Ireland), the Maples Group’s law firm in Ireland, is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Stapleton, as the new Managing Partner of its Irish office and a member of the firm’s Global Management Committee. Peter succeeds Nicholas Butcher, who retires from the firm after almost 18 years of service, six of which he spent as Managing Partner of the law firm in Ireland.
Based in Dublin, Peter has successfully led the Irish Funds & Investment Management practice over the past six years, confirming the firm’s position as a leading and most innovative legal adviser to Irish-serviced funds, year on year. Peter is widely recognised as one of the best financial services lawyers in Europe.
On his newly appointed role, Peter said, “I am grateful for the confidence bestowed by my peers on this appointment to the role of Managing Partner of our Irish office and it is an absolute privilege to lead the team in Ireland. In Ireland, Stephen McLoughlin (Finance), Robin McDonnell (Dispute Resolution & Insolvency), Karen Killalea (Employment), Diarmuid Mawe (Commercial Property), Emma Conaty (GRS), Stephen Carty (Financial Services Regulatory), Claire Morrissey (Data, Commercial & Technology), Mary Dunne (Projects and Infrastructure) and Andrew Quinn (Tax) remain in their existing roles. Following Peter’s appointment to Managing Partner, Eimear O’Dwyer and Adam Donoghue were appointed as co-heads of the Irish Funds & Investment Management practice.
Following Edward Miller’s retirement, Colm Rafferty was appointed as head of the Irish Corporate practice (a role he previously shared with Edward).

Prior to taking up this position, Leslie was VP Country Manager at First Derivatives where he was instrumental in growing the Irish consultancy business over the last 4 years. Before that, he was Commercial Director at Rockall Technologies.
Leslie joins CubeMatch with over 30 years of experience in working in the Fintech/Regtech industry managing complex global projects and building teams.

HSBC Corporate Banking Ireland has appointed Russell Williamson as Head of Food and Agriculture.
In his role, Russell will be responsible for supporting HSBC’s food and agriculture clients and their future plans within this strategically important sector as well as the origination of new business to support HSBC’s growth plans in Ireland.
Prior to this, Russell worked at Bank of Ireland where he was an Associate Director of Corporate Banking and responsible for supporting over 60 clients in a diverse range of sectors including food and agriculture, media, logistics, construction and manufacturing.
Russell has over 19 years’ experience across a wide range of customer facing roles and sectors including corporate banking, relationship management, international banking, retail banking and structured products.
Speaking about Russell’s appointment, Michael Lalor, Country Head of Corporate Banking, HSBC Ireland said: “We are delighted to have Russell on board. Duff & Phelps, A Kroll Business, is pleased to announce that Gráinne O Farrelly has been promoted to CEO of Duff & Phelps (Ireland) Management Company.
Gráinne is also Managing Director of Financial Services Compliance & Regulation in the Dublin office located on Stephen’s Green. Gráinne also acts as a Designated Person performing management functions for a number of UCITS and AIFMs.
Prior to Duff & Phelps, Gráinne oversaw a large multi-functional team in the regulation department of Euronext Dublin (formerly the Irish Stock Exchange) and led a number of regulatory initiatives to ensure the integration of investment funds on a cross jurisdictional basis.
Gráinne began her career in Investors Bank & Trust in Dublin and Boston and joined Grant Thornton (formerly RSM Robson Rhodes) in 2000 where she headed up the listing team as a director until 2010.
She is a member of Women in ETF’s Mentoring Group; a member of EFAMA’s European Fund Classification Forum (EFCF) group, and has lectured on Funds in the Law Society.
