This week sees new and notable appointments at Drinks Ireland, Roberts Nathan, Datascan, Spectrum.Life, and Cornmarket Group.


Pat Rigney, Chair,

Pat Rigney, the Managing Director and Founder at The Shed Distillery, which makes Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin, has been elected Chair of Drinks Ireland, the Ibec trade association that represents drinks manufacturers and suppliers on the island of Ireland.

Drinks Ireland represents 61 drinks manufacturers on the island of Ireland. Pat Rigney takes over the position of Chair from Oliver Loomes, Country Director of Diageo Ireland.

Prior to COVID-19, the drinks industry was experiencing strong growth. In 2019, it generated exports to over 140 markets, worth €1.45 billion.  It contributed €2.6 billion in VAT and Excise payments to the exchequer. Drinks Ireland, with its new Chair, will help support the sector in recovering from the impact of the pandemic in 2021 and beyond.

Commenting on his appointment today, Mr Rigney said: “Ireland’s drinks industry faces a number of challenges. The sector has and continues to be significantly impacted by COVID-19, which has hit production, exports, and sales. Beyond this, it faces the prospect of a no-deal Brexit, with negotiations ongoing, and also continues to be impacted by trade disputes between the EU and the US.

“But at its core the industry is resilient, dynamic, innovative, and has performed strongly in  domestic and export markets in recent years. I’m looking forward to working with Drinks Ireland and its membership.”

Roberts Nathan has announced Eilish Haughton as a key senior appointment as Audit Director to provide and oversee audit and advisory services for entrepreneurial led and SME companies in Ireland and the UK.

Ms Haughton is an experienced accountant with over 18 years’ experience gained in two of the top six accountancy firms in Ireland. She is a Business Studies and Accountancy graduate of TU Dublin and a Chartered Accountant.

Welcoming Eilish to her new role, Brendan Kean, Dublin Managing Partner said: “I am delighted Eilish has joined us, not only will she bring very strong functional experience to enhance further our audit and advisory services, but her addition will also grow our capabilities as a key full-service accountancy firm supporting Irish business and entrepreneurs.”

Datascan, Ireland’s specialist digital document management service provider, is delighted to announce the appointment of Kym Moffat as Senior Sales Executive, effective immediately.

As part of her new role, Ms Moffat will be responsible for growing Datascan’s commercial services. Bringing over 7 years’ experience to the role, she has built up an expansive network of SME’S both in Ireland and the UK. This experience will help support Datascan as it continues to further expand its presence in the Irish market for CCTV Redaction, Digital Mailroom services, digitalisation of business processes and Accounts Payable Processing.

Ms Moffat joins Datascan from Procorre Consulting, where she held the position of Senior Account Manager/ Business Development Consultant working in Global Mobility. She worked at the company for over four years where she held a number of sales and business development roles.

Spectrum.Life, Ireland’s largest corporate health and wellbeing provider has appointed Aidan McGettigan as its new Chief Financial Officer and Professor Brian Caulfield as its new Chief Scientific Officer, effective immediately. These key appointments and the expertise they bring to the company will further enable Spectrum.Life to continue to grow and develop its customer base and its innovative range of workplace wellbeing solutions.

In his role as CFO, Mr McGettigan will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company. He joins Spectrum.Life after previously serving as Commercial Director of Irish healthcare group Centric Health for over 13 years. He also holds a degree in Accounting and Finance from DCU.

Professor Caulfield will be responsible for Spectrum.Life’s scientific, technological, and research operations. Professor Caulfield will be joining the company after serving as Dean of Physiotherapy and the Director of the INSIGHT Centre for Data Analytics at University College Dublin.

EIS Financial Services Ltd, owned by Cornmarket, one of Ireland’s largest Insurance Brokers, has announced the appointment of Jason Quilty as Managing Director. Mr Quilty joins EIS Financial Services following three years as Client Services Manager at Cornmarket in Dublin, where his team developed and maintained strong relationships with key employers and affinity groups.

Mr Quilty arrives at EIS Financial Services with close to 30 years of experience in the financial services industry and has previously held management roles at Cornmarket and Bank of Ireland. He has a proven commitment to high standards of operational performance, delivering growth and business change.

As Managing Director, Mr Quilty will oversee the continued expansion of EIS Financial Services by providing financial and retirement planning services as well as insurance products to Scottish teachers and their families.

EIS Financial Services was set up in 1990 by the Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS), the largest teacher trade union in Scotland, to give it’s 58,000 teacher and lecturer members access to qualified financial advisors and to provide independent  financial advice on investments, pensions and retirement planning. The EIS union represents over 80% of all Scottish teachers in nursery, primary, secondary and third-level education.
