This week saw new and notable appointments at Matheson, Horseware, Carne Group, AON and Goodbody.


Niall Collins and Karen Sheil, Head of Matheson’s EU Competition & Regulatory Law Group, Commercial Real Estate,
Matheson

Matheson has announce that it has appointed two new partners. Niall Collins joins the firm as partner and head of Matheson’s EU, Competition & Regulatory Law Group, while Karen Sheil has joined Matheson as a partner in the Commercial Real Estate Department.

Mr. Collins has extensive experience advising Irish and multinational businesses on Irish and EU competition law, particularly on complex merger control mandates and a reputation for delivering outcomes for clients in difficult cases.

Ms. Sheil specialises in all types of property development and investment transactions (both loan and asset based) including syndicate investments using corporate, funds and other structures.  She has extensive experience in the site assembly, financing, structuring, letting and disposal of retail developments and mixed schemes on behalf of landlords and developers

Previously working for over eight years with Estée Lauder Companies, Ms. Friel was most recently Director of New Market Expansion at Aveda International, and prior to this, Marketing Director for Aveda EMEA.

Ms. Friel holds a Degree in Geography from University College Dublin and a Master’s in Business Studies from UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business.

Carne Group have announced the appointment of Mary O’Connor as a Non-Executive Director to its Board of Directors.

Prior to joining Carne’s Board, Ms. O’Connor was acting CEO, KPMG UK, and Head of Clients and Markets, overseeing KPMG’s non-audit business, including tax, deal advisory, and consulting. Mary joined KPMG from WTW, where she was Head of Client, Industry and Business Development, and Global Financial Institutions.

“I have been really impressed by Carne’s approach to solving key industry challenges. I’m very much looking forward to bringing my own expertise to bear as together we look to solve the industry challenges of today and tomorrow for the benefit of clients and end investors”, she said.

Aon Ireland have announced Mairead O’Mahony as Head of Wealth Solutions at Aon in Ireland, ensuring that the company’s retirement and investment services are best positioned to unlock value and capital for clients.

Mairead O’Mahony will lead the wealth solutions business and join Aon’s local leadership team in Ireland. As head of Wealth Solutions, she will be responsible for expanding on the solutions and capabilities that Aon offers to help businesses to create a more secure future for their workforces and stakeholders.

Gary Kennedy, Chair,
Goodbody

Goodbody Stockbrokers has announced he appointment of Gary Kennedy as a Non-Executive Director and Chair of the company. Gary will join the Board and take up the position of Chair with immediate effect as the current Chair, Dr Michael Somers, steps down having served as Chair of the Board for the past 11 years.

Mr. Kennedy is currently the Chair of Greencore Group plc, Non-Executive Chair of Norcros plc and non-executive Director of Focus Ireland. He was previously Group Director, Finance & Enterprise Technology of AIB and a member of the AIB board.  Gary previously chaired Connect Group plc and Green REIT plc and served on boards including Elan Corporation plc, Friends First, IDA Ireland and was a Government appointed Director of IBRC.
