This week sees new and notable appointments from Musgrave MarketPlace, PFH Technology and Mazars.


Declan Flood, Head of Foodservice Sales,
Musgrave MarketPlace

Musgrave MarketPlace, Ireland’s only 100% Irish-owned national Foodservice wholesaler, has appointed Declan Flood as its Head of Foodservice Sales. 

Bringing over 20 years’ experience of sales leadership to the business, Declan will be responsible for maintaining the wholesaler’s strong partnership ethos, supporting customers as they continue to emerge from the pandemic which saw customers innovating with new business models to meet challenges. 

With the pandemic also accelerating the move to digital for many foodservice customers, Declan will take the lead on migrating and recruiting customers to the new and improved online store, creating a seamless shopping experience on the business’s fastest growing channel.

He will support Musgrave MarketPlace on its brand promise of being First for Service, First for Choice and First for Value to Foodservice customers all over Ireland.

An accomplished leader, Declan has a wealth of experience in sales and channel management across field sales, inside sales and digital sales in B2B and B2C markets. He has held several senior commercial roles, most recently as Head of Sales in Bulmers and prior to this Head of Sales in Sysco and Head of Sales in Eir. Declan will bring his collaborative leadership style to the business, with an emphasis on coaching and mentoring.

PFH Technology Group, Ireland’s leading ICT solutions and services company with a workforce of over 700, delivering successful transformation engagements for clients across Cloud, Managed Services, Digital Workspace and Infrastructure, is strengthening its leadership team with the appointment of Anne O’Leary and Susan Manning.

Anne O’Leary FCCA has joined the PFH board as an independent Non-Executive Director. She was a senior audit partner with Ernst & Young (EY) in Cork until her retirement in June 2020. Since then, she has also joined the board of Ornua where she is chair of the Audit and Risk Committee and a member of the Remuneration sub-committee.

Anne is a member of the Chartered Institute of Certified Accountants and holds a diploma in Company direction from the Institute of Directors. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Certified Accountants, having qualified for membership in 1982 and she has served, and continues to serve, on a number of charitable boards.

Susan Manning has been appointed as People Director and will lead a comprehensive people strategy aligned with the company’s business strategy ensuring PFH continues to develop as an Employer of Choice.

Susan has over twenty-five years’ experience working in the field of HR, Talent Development and Coaching and holds an MSc. in Coaching and Behavioural Change. She will oversee all aspects of talent development, HR best practices, employee experience, Wellbeing, D&I and people operations.

Laura Trimble, CEO and Head of Wholesale Banking for Ireland, HSBC

HSBC has appointed Laura Trimble as Chief Executive Officer and Head of Wholesale Banking, Ireland. She will be responsible for HSBC’s commercial banking, global banking and securities services businesses in Ireland.

Laura has over 15 years’ experience working in corporate and investment banking, notably in the equity capital markets, and has most recently been managing HSBC Commercial Banking’s origination activity across Europe. She has also taken a leading role in HSBC’s inclusion strategy for the continent.

Laura said: “I am privileged to take on the leadership of HSBC’s business in Ireland and to join an excellent team of colleagues based in Dublin. Ireland is a key corridor for global commerce because it connects Europe with the rest of the world. We are ambitious to grow our business further here and to become the preferred international banking partner for our clients, particularly in sustainable finance.”

Commenting on the appointment, Andy Wild, CEO of HSBC Continental Europe, said: “Ireland represents a key market for our international wholesale banking strategy in Europe. With her extensive corporate and investment banking background, Laura is well placed to lead the next phase of growth in our Irish business.”

Laura succeeds Alan Duffy, who has taken on the new role of Head of Sustainable Finance for HSBC Europe Commercial Banking and her appointment is subject to regulatory approval.

Kian Caulwell has joined Mazars in Ireland as Partner and Head of Financial Services Consulting, responsible for delivering regulatory consulting and risk assurance services. He is a Certified Ethical and Cultural Advisor with over 15 years of financial services experience and advises financial services institutions in banking, asset management and payment services. In addition, he has significant experience acting for and on behalf of European central banks.

Brian Cormack has been appointed as a Partner in our Audit & Assurance division. Having joined Mazars in Ireland over twelve years ago as a trainee, he has been a key team member in managing some of the firm’s largest and most complex clients. In his new role, he will continue to lead our relationship with some of our key clients and support them in delivering on their plans.
