At the recent AGM of the Irish Chamber of Commerce, Singapore, Allan Schouten, managing director of PM Group’s Asia-Pacific business unit, was unanimously voted in as president for 2014.
Hosted in the residence of his Excellency and Patron of the Irish Chamber of Commerce, Ambassador Joe Hayes, the AGM was well attended by Chamber members and the Irish business community in Singapore.
Schouten, who is a main board director with PM Group said: “My focus will be on increasing business and networking opportunities for our members and sponsors and to grow and diversify our core industry sectors.” He also highlighted a focus on young professionals in the region and a commitment to continue to execute high class, industry specific focused events.
Outgoing president Felimy Greene, who chaired the evening’s proceedings said: “Allan has made an outstanding contribution to the Irish Chamber of Commerce as an active board member and most recently as vice president. His passion for Ireland and for Irish business interests in Singapore and the wider region are unfaltering. I am certain that he will continue to grow the organisation and ensure its position as a leading forum for business networking in Singapore, while strengthening business ties between Ireland and Singapore.”
The Chamber also welcomed two new members to the Board; Paddy Flynn, consultant with the Fry Group and Dr. Maybelle Tan, director and founder of the Belle Clinic, Singapore. The following board members were re-elected; Felimy Greene, Conor Mc Coole, Niamh Byrne, Colm McCarthy, Siobhán Hamilton, Steve Keane, David Monaghan and Alan Stone.
The Irish Chamber, through its members and corporate sponsors has an extensive reach throughout the business community in Singapore and the ASEAN region.
The Chamber has recently announced the formation of a new group for young Irish professionals living and working in Singapore with the aim of helping them network within the Irish and Singaporean business communities.
