Business & Finance highlights an up-and-coming start-up making waves in its industry. In this article we look at ARROE, a company that has built brand and platform agnostic battery management software for all devices, free to download on iOS, Android, Windows and macOS.

What is it?

The ARROE Smart Charging System is designed for the millions of mobile workers in the new remote work economy. It is the first portable charging solution that can safely charge any laptop make or model using their proprietary technology and customisable voltage via the ARROE app. It also includes USB-C, USB-A, and wireless charging for phones, tablets, and all your devices.

ARROE has built brand and platform agnostic battery management software for all devices, free to download on iOS, Android, Windows and macOS. It tells you what to charge and when ensuring your devices are always ready to use when you need them. It offers location-based charging summaries and extends the lifespan of your devices with optimised charging. With an ARROE device, you can work on your laptop and charge all your devices from anywhere: indoors, to completely off-grid away from wall sockets.

Who’s behind it?

Founded in 2016 and based in London and Los Angeles ARROE are a team of product developers, scientists, marketers and business executives working to bring innovation to the charging space that powers the products we depend on every day. Co-Founded by Eoin Cooney (CEO) and Niall McGuinness PhD (Chief R & D Officer), both from Ireland, and Washingtonian Randolph Manderstam (CMO), the trio who’ve been friends for 20 years have drawn from their respective backgrounds to develop a fusion between hardware and software to create a new category; smart charging.

How is it funded?

As with any startup, ARROE began their investment journey with the support of family and industry friends who believed in the concept and the team’s ability to realise it. ARROE closed a €525k pre-seed round in 2019. They are now raising a seed round of up to €2m, with €850k already committed including a successful equity crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube that closed in February 2020.

Future plans?

After a soft launch only months ago, ARROE is already selling in stores globally, has pre-sold over 700 units, signed a contract with the world’s biggest IT distributor and are about to launch in the United States with Amazon Launchpad and the consumer tech giant Best Buy. The funds raised in the seed round will be deployed to build out their SaaS program, develop new smart charging products and market their software and the ARROE Smart Charging System directly to consumers.
