The new engineering hub will see the Irish-founded firm expand its Dublin operations.

The $9 billion-valued online payments company was founded by Limerick brothers John and Patrick Collison in 2010.

Stripe‘s European headquarters is already in Dublin but the main headquarters is situated in Silicon Valley. The expansion here in Dublin will focus on the actual development of the payments platform.

Patrick Collison said they are now looking for a high-calibre individual to lead the engineering base in the Irish capital. He also went on to say that Dublin was an attractive proposition for the new hub as they already have operations here and the talent pool in Dublin would offer a wide variety of skills.

A change in business could be on the cards in Ireland, however, with the housing crisis potentially being a “major impediment” for the business going forward in terms of a talented workforce being diminished in the Dublin area.

Patrick and John last year made it onto the Forbes rich list, each with a net worth of €1.02 billion.
