PayPal today announces that Louise Phelan, the vice president of PayPal’s Global Operations in EMEA, has been named as Ireland’s Most Trusted Leader at the Great Place to Work Awards in Dublin this  night. The gala event was attended by 650 business leaders.

Phelan was presented with this award for ‘demonstrating a great passion for her people in PayPal and her desire to create a great workplace’.

eBay Inc. (including eBay and PayPal) was also placed ninth in the Best Large Workplaces category. It was recognised for strengths across a number of areas including its ‘dedication to personal development for all employees, sharing information, rewarding staff and its corporate social responsibility activity’.

Phelan commented on the award win: “I am honoured to receive this fantastic award and vote of confidence in our leadership from our amazing teammates at our Dublin and Dundalk offices. It is our talented people that make this a great place to work. They are at the heart of everything we do and critical to our success as we create the future of money for our customers. I believe these awards are recognition of our teammate’s pride and passion for our business, as well as their hard work and commitment.

“We are extremely lucky to have some of the most talented and innovative people working with us. We empower them to make an impact by creating a culture of collaboration and respect. We measure success not just financially, but on our ability to support our community.”

The award ceremony was attended by An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny TD, who congratulated all of this year’s organisations on their commitment to creating great workplaces, saying: “The Government’s aim is to make Ireland the best small country in the world in which to do business and I’m pleased to say our reputation is growing.  Businesses in Ireland have demonstrated a vibrancy and a commitment to economic recovery that is reflected in the positive spirit of these awards.  The Government will continue to implement the Action Plan for Jobs so that more of our people can get back to work and experience the satisfaction and pride that these awards epitomise.”
