Secure Computing Forum 2014

By Business & Finance
11 February 2014

Data Solutions will host the annual Secure Computing Forum on Thursday, March 13th 2014 in the Gibson Hotel, Dublin.

This event will bring together high-profile international speakers and leading industry experts in what has become one of the largest IT security events in Ireland.

As the security industry comes to realise that a targeted attack cannot be entirely prevented, the Secure Computing Forum will explore how Irish businesses can be prepared and examine recent breaches and the lessons learned.

The conference will also delve into the security v’s privacy debate.  Experts will participate in panel discussions to explore if improved protection against hackers comes at the cost of privacy.

One of the speakers taking part in this debate will be Dr Ciarán Mc Mahon, research & development coordinator at the CyberPsychology Research Centre in the Institute of Leadership. His recent research into the areas of social media, political campaigning, and cyberbullying have attracted international interest. Mc Mahon brings a unique theoretical and philosophical overview of cyberpsychology.

Among the keynote speakers at this year’s event will be Lieutenant Colonel William Hagestad II, US Marine Corps (RET) who advises international intelligence organisations, military flag officers, and multi-national organisations in relation to their internal IT security governance and external security policies.

Michael Schrenk, will provide the second of the keynote presentations. Schrenk has worked around for clients ranging from governments and Eastern European banks to Disney and the BBC. He is also a frequent speaker at the DEFCON hacking conference, where he recently gave the talk, ‘How my Botnet Purchased Millions of Dollars in Cars and Defeated the Russian Hackers’.

Other speakers will include Keith Bird, MD of Check Point Software Technologies, UK and Ireland as well as Amar Singh, a leading industry expert on data privacy, governance, risk management and compliance and current Chair of the ISACA’s Security Group.
