22 July 2013

The Irish Internet Association (IIA) today announced the shortlist for this year’s Dot ie Net Visionary Awards.

This year sees a new twist to the awards with just five categories being decided by a public vote, the remaining categories decided by the extensive panel of 15 industry expert judges.

Voting opens tomorrow for just 72 hours.

With awards such as ‘Most Indispensable Cloud Service for SMEs’and ‘Most Joyous to Look At and Splendid to Use Web Design’, the IIA has attracted a record number of entries for the 2013 Dot IE Net Visionary Awards.

Joan Mulvihill, CEO of the IIA, is particularly pleased with the industry reaction. “The sheer number of entrants has been overwhelming. While it’s free to enter the awards, we were particularly demanding in the nomination and application process for 2013, giving the judges an opportunity to really see who was in it to win.”

She added: “This week is an exciting one that will test the mettle of those shortlisted for the public vote. With public voting open for just 72 hours, the shortlisted companies are in a tight sprint to the finish to garner as many votes as they can. The increased judging panel, from six to fifteen, means that the entries from the remaining ten categories will be equally tested and hotly contested in the final stages of judging next month.”

For the third consecutive year, the IEDR have truly established themselves as IIA partners for these prestigious awards.

Commenting on the IEDR’s involvement, Angela Butler, finance and operations manager says: “The IE Domain Registry is delighted to be the headline sponsor for this year’s Dot ie Net Visionary Awards. These awards provide a clear picture of best practice in the Irish Internet community while also serving to highlight the most popular, useful and notable websites in Ireland. The IEDR are keen to promote and celebrate these websites which can be used as quality benchmarks for other businesses and individuals to rank and improve their own online offerings.”

The Dot IE Net Visionary Awards, now in their 15th year will be held on Friday, September 27th at the Smock Alley Theatre’s Banquet Hall.
