On October 29th over 3,000 people are expected to attend Dubstarts in The Powerscourt Centre and Pygmalion, where they will meet with 50 of Ireland’s fastest growing startup companies along with a select number of larger organisations, such as Jameson and Paddy Power.
Startups such as Soundwave, Newswhip, Popdeem, Frockadvisor and Wattics will be hiring on the night, for positions ranging from programming to design to business and marketing. Jameson and Paddy Power are both on major recruitment drives themselves, and jumped at the chance to get to know 3,000 jobseekers over the space of three hours.
The event’s organiser, Mark Whelan, stresses the importance of Dubstarts’ unique atmosphere, which involves live music, an optional drink or two and direct access to the country’s most inspiring entrepreneurs: “it can sometimes take companies months to find, interview and hire the right people. Dubstarts is like speed-dating for startups and we’ve even seen some people land jobs on the spot at our events! The atmosphere is always lively and relaxed so people can really be themselves.”
The event is always free, thanks to the support of Dublin City Enterprise Board, Brightwater Recruitment Specialists, Frontline Ventures, Ascent Labs, Flynn O’Driscoll Business Lawyers, Jameson and Paddy Power.
The last Dubstarts saw 1,500 people meet 30 startup companies in The Button Factory in April. Logentries, Trustev, Skillpages, Intercom and Swrve were all there and have gone from strength to strength since. Over 150 people have been hired into startups as a result of Dubstarts’ three events to date and there will be another 150 roles on offer on October 29th.
