The Business Show returns with in-person event

On 6th October, 2022, The Business Show (TBS) will bring together business leaders, decision-makers, government representatives and policy-makers across a 1 day in-person summit, which will offer attendees the opportunity to engage with speakers from a multitude of disciplines.


The Business Show is a solutions-driven in-person event for the New Business Era centred on the theme ‘Rethinking Business’. The event programme will offer a comprehensive overview of  our new business landscape. Experts and thought-leaders from all sectors will showcase best practice to unlock opportunities for businesses looking to a better and more sustainable future.

Themes

Themes will include Sustainability/ESG, Business Transformation, Digital Evolution, The Future of Work, Cybersecurity, Diversity, Equality & Inclusion, International Expansion and Wellness

Networking

There will be networking opportunities that will allow attendees to connect with C-suite  execs and industry leaders and meet face-to-face with peers to exchange ideas, strategies & insights. Meetings can be booked in advance and meaningful connections can be formed through various exhibitor stands.

Networking opportunities can be made through the event’s new app. There will also be a networking lounge where attendees can connect with one another. 

The Business Show

Launched in May 2020 at the very height of lockdown restrictions, TBS has enjoyed success as a series of engagements across digital platforms, which twice culminated in Ireland’s largest virtual summit. The Business Show 2022 is the third iteration of the event and marks the first in-person programme in the event’s history.

Confirmed speakers include:

Anne Sheehan, General Manager, Microsoft Ireland  

Anne joined Microsoft Ireland as General Manager in October 2021, taking responsibility for the sales, marketing and services business across the island of Ireland with a particular focus on delivering business transformation with Microsoft’s customers and partners within the public and private sectors.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Anne was Enterprise Director at Vodafone UK, with responsibility for sales, brand, wservices, government relations product and solution design across multiple lines of business. Before assuming her UK responsibilities, Anne ran Vodafone Ireland’s Enterprise Business in Ireland for four years. Previously, Anne worked at IBM for 16 years across a number of senior positions, including Vice President of Sales and Services for the Nordic Region, Sales and Services Director for IBM Ireland, Head of Channel and Head of Infrastructure & Technology Services.

Anne holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Studies, specialising in Accounting and Finance and a Graduate Diploma in Computing — both from the University of Limerick. Anne is passionate about partnering with Irish organisations to work together towards an innovative and progressive digital world.

Mark Cassidy, Acting Deputy Governor (Monetary and Financial Sustainability), Central Bank of Ireland 

Mark Cassidy took up the role of Acting Deputy Governor (Monetary and Financial Stability) on 1 July 2022. He is an ex-officio Member of the Central Bank Commission. Mark is responsible for leading the financial stability; economics and statistics and financial operations directorates of the Central Bank. He moved from the role of Director of Economics and Statistics, where he had been since December 2017. In this latter role he was responsible for the Monetary Policy Division, the Irish Economic Analysis Division and the Statistics Division. Prior to his appointment Mark was Head of Financial Stability and has also been Head of Monetary Policy.

Mark has represented the Central Bank on a range of Eurosystem and international committees including the ECB’s Financial Stability Committee, the Monetary Policy Committee, the International Relations Committee and Banking Supervision Committee. He is also Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Bank’s Superannuation Scheme and was previously the Chair of the Central Bank’s Brexit Taskforce.

Mark has over twenty years’ experience in central banking and academia and holds a Ph.D in Economics from Trinity College Dublin.

Tracey Donnery, Director, Skillnet Ireland 

Tracey Donnery is a Director with Skillnet Ireland, the business support agency responsible for the promotion and facilitation of talent development in Ireland. She is an experienced executive in learning and development, organisation development and labour market policy. 

Believing that a talented and highly skilled workforce is essential for Ireland’s competitiveness and productivity, Tracey works to ensure Skillnet Ireland business supports are innovative and align with national workforce development policy, focusing on digitalisation and climate action.

Tracey is a Chartered Fellow of CIPD, member of the Institute of Directors, Fellow of Irish Institute of Training & Development, and the National Council of Business for Digital Tech Women. Tracey holds a Masters in Human Resource Strategies from Dublin City University, a Diploma in Executive Coaching and a Diploma in Leadership from the Irish Management Institute.

Tracy O’Rourke, CEO, Vivid Edge  

Tracy O’Rourke is Founder and CEO of Vivid Edge and has a background in finance and deal structuring. She identified an opportunity to deliver building and equipment upgrades in a more capital efficient way: ‘energy efficiency as a service’. The right equipment can transform the energy efficiency of a business while also helping address societal challenges to reduce carbon emissions and build a greener economy.

Danny McCoy, CEO, Ibec 

Danny McCoy has been CEO of Ibec since 2009. Ibec is Ireland’s largest business representative organisation and the country’s largest lobbying group. It has 245 staff in nine locations and has 39 trade association brands and substantial presence within the European Union through Ibec’s Brussels office.

Prior to joining Ibec, Danny was a senior economist at both the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) and the Central Bank of Ireland in Dublin. He has held lecturing posts at Dublin City University, University College London, University of Oxford and Trinity College Dublin. He has been a consultant for the European Commission and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). He has been a member of the Irish National Competitiveness Council, the National Economic and Social Council, the Commission on Taxation and the National Training Agency. He led a European Macroeconomic Forecasting Network for the European Commission of eleven national research institutes.

He is a former President of the Statistical and Social Inquiry society of Ireland, an Honorary Fellow of the Academy of Engineers, member of the Trade and Investment Council, the Executive Bureau of BusinessEurope, a member of MaREI, a founder of ChapterZero Ireland and a member of Government’s Balance for Better Business Group.

His academic work in the early 1990s covered carbon taxation and Sustainable Development for which he received an Economic scholarship and the Barrington Medal for researchers under 30.

He was Knighted by the Italian Government in 2022 for services to European business and economy.

Leo Clancy, CEO, Enterprise Ireland

Leo Clancy is the newly appointed CEO of Enterprise Ireland, the state agency that assists Irish companies in their inception and growth.

Leo previously worked at IDA Ireland where he led the Technology, Consumer and Business Services sector as well as IT, Marketing Communications and Corporate Services. He was also a member of the Executive Management team. In that role, Leo worked extensively with global technology and services companies invested in Ireland.

Prior to his public sector career, Leo spent 17 years in the telecommunications industry, including in a number of management, technical and engineering roles. He was part of the senior leadership team at e|net, a high-growth Irish wholesale broadband provider and spent his early career at Ericsson, primarily working on global services for deployment of mobile and fixed networks.

Leo graduated from Dublin Institute of Technology with a First-Class Honours degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering in 1996.

Siobhan Sweeney, Global Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Leader, Hubspot

Siobhan Sweeney is the Global Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Leader at Hubspot — an American developer and marketer of software products for inbound marketing, sales and customer service.

Siobhan held a number of positions at AIB before being appointed Head of Diversity and Inclusion Lead in 2018. She subsequently took up the role of Director of Development, Diversity and Inclusion at Open Doors Initiative in 2020. The Open Doors Initiative is a not for profit organisation established in 2018 which aims to develop employment for marginalised individuals.

Siobhan holds a Master’s Degree in Organisational Behaviour and Psychology from Dublin City University.
