In our Ones to Watch section, we highlight some of the top movers and shakers in Ireland. This week it’s the turn of ecommerce company eShopWorld.

What is it?

eShopWorld provides sustainable, scalable ecommerce technology for retailers to succeed globally, by delivering a seamless and localised shopping experience that enhances their brand. Brand-loyal customers worldwide enjoy a personalised ecommerce experience regardless of location or device, from the first website visit through to delivery, including customer service and returns.

eShopWorld can switch on new markets for retailers in a fraction of the time it would take them to do it themselves. eShopWorld employs over 120 staff and has annual sales exceeding €200m.

Who’s behind it?

eShopWorld was launched in 2010 by founder and CEO Tommy Kelly, with a staff of six people from an office in north county Dublin.

Ranked number one in the Deloitte Fast 50 in 2015 and 2016, in the last year alone they have recruited 60 people, primarily in Dublin, to reach a current total of 120 staff working across a network of sales and operations offices.

How is it funded?

All funding has been supported by the shareholders to date.

Future plans?

eShopWorld plans to  continue to invest in R&D to develop its technology and refine it to deliver hyper local shopping experiences, according to local market preferences in global markets.

The company recently opened a fulfilment hub in Singapore to facilitate greater access to the Asian market. Through this hub, eShopWorld plans to deliver efficiencies and cost savings to retailers, and bring order fulfilment closer to market.
