Ones to Watch: Corrata – mobile device security software

In our Ones to Watch section, we highlight some of the top movers and shakers. This week we feature Corrata.

What is it?

Corrata is an award-winning provider of mobile device security software which was founded in 2016 by technology entrepreneurs Colm Healy and Brendan McDonagh. Corrata’s patent pending software enables organizations to defend against mobile threats, block malicious and inappropriate content from the web or apps and eliminate unnecessary data usage. Corrata’s technology provides enterprises with unprecedented visibility and control over mobile devices, protecting their employees from web, device and infrastructure based threats.

Who’s behind it?

Brendan McDonagh, Founder and Chairman is joined by Colm Healy, CEO. Prior to their work at Corrata, Brendan was co-founder and CEO of Arantech where he built a world-class management team and through them developed and grew the company to be the market leader in providing Customer Experience Management solutions to Mobile Network Operators worldwide. Arantech was acquired by Tektronix Communications (now part of Netscout) in April 2009. Colm was co-founder and CEO of machine learning startup Xiam Technologies. Xiam was acquired by Qualcomm, the world’s leading mobile technology company in 2008. For five years following the acquisition, Colm lead Qualcomm’s European services business where he was responsible for winning significant deals with Europe’s largest mobile service providers.

How is it funded?

Corrata has raised €1.3m through a financing round lead by leading European venture fund Delta Partners. A number of angel investors also participated in the round. Corrata has developed a breakthrough technology for protecting smartphones and tablets from cyber attacks.

Future plans?

Corrata will use the funds to support product development, as well as sales and marketing activities. Corrata’s unique on-device solution positions Corrata as a leader in next generation mobile threat defense and data control.
