In our Ones to Watch section, we highlight some of the top movers and shakers in Ireland. This week we feature EmotionReader.

What is it?

EmotionReader is building a novel kind of video measurement platform for brands, agencies and media companies, quantifying attention and collecting emotional responses directly from real people, in real time, in any location around the world, providing emotional impact analytics for video content.

Streamline your creative process: With second-by-second emotion traces, see exactly how and where people react to your content – what works and what doesn’t.

Target key demographics: Slice and dice your content by demographic and see if your video resonates with the right audience.

Identify best performers: The company’s Dashboard allows you to rank your assets at a glance so you know which videos to push – or pull. Using emotional intelligence enables you to put your best foot forward by identifying your best content and picking between executions.

Who’s behind it?

Stephen Moore Ph.D and Padraig O’Leary Ph.D (both UL graduates) are co-founders of the company. EmotionReader has an experienced management team with 10+ years of start-up experience and 17 years of domain experience.

How is it funded?

EmotionReader is an Enterprise Ireland-funded company and privately funded also. The firm will be raising a seed round in January.

Future plans?

In 2018 the organisation plans to sell the solution into the world-leading marketing agencies. EmotionReader is also building tools so its emotion analytics can be integrated into the programmatic advertising platforms. This industry is offering a significant opportunity for a novel way to place advertisements with emotion data-driven decisions.
