In our Ones to Watch section, we highlight some of the top movers and shakers. This week we feature WeBringg.

What is it?

WeBringg delivers online sales using its innovative technology and a fleet of crowdsourced delivery personnel. It completely facilitates the completion of deliveries in minutes rather than days. The company’s technology integrates with any point of sale, or e-commerce platform allowing any restaurant or retailer to facilitate same-day deliveries for their customers.

Who’s behind it?

Sean Murray, CEO, and Alan Hickey, CCO, are the co-founders. They were both running successful businesses prior to WeBringg. Locate Digital was a company that provided an avenue that Sean could bring tech to traditional business. In most cases traditional business would shy away from tech expansion due to the associated costs. Alan started a successful financial brokerage with his father, Fred. He also started International Gold Advisors with his father.

How is it funded?

WeBringg started off with an investment from Alan’s family of €50,000. This was shortly followed by €17,000 from Sean and support from the Local Enterprise. After their first nine months trading – March 16 to December 16 – they knew they were on to something, and that scaling globally was a necessity. In late 2017, WeBringg raised €850,000 in a convertible loan note (CLN) from eight private individuals, three of whom – Enda Fauaghan, John Prudy and Brian Hickey – have also taken seats on the firm’s Board of Directors. They are now starting their next funding round, which will be in excess of €4,000,000.

Future plans?

Global domination of the last-mile logistics. WeBringg truly believes it can disrupt the logistics industry in the same way Uber redefined the taxi industry. The on-demand economy means everywhere is a potential market. WeBringg is currently operating in Ireland, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand. In 2018, the company intends to fully exploit these markets, further develop its technology and prepare for the next global expansion in early 2019 in mainland Europe and the US/Canadian markets.
