Registered nurses and co-owners of Renew Aesthetic Clinic, Sinead Gallagher and Jeanette Dunne take the Business & Finance 60-second challenge.

Q. What was your first job?

SG: I worked cleaning the toilets in a fair ground for the summer in Antibes in the south of France, not very glamorous but these are the things you do when you need work!

JD: A Saturday girl in Dunnes Stores.

Q. What would you regard as your greatest achievement to date?

SG: Opening our fourth Aesthetic Clinic in Bath Avenue, Dublin 4. We’ve come a long way since St Vincent’s Hospital.

JD: There are so many. Having both my children and surviving the recession with Renew Aesthetic Clinic.

Q. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

SG: ‘What’s the worst thing that can happen?’ My dad always used to say it to me and I always think of it when making business decisions.

JD: Always see the positive in every situation. The glass is always half-full.

Q. If you could step into the shoes of one businessperson for the day, who would it be and why?

SG: Alan Sugar. I just love his no nonsense approach and really admire the way he has built himself up from nothing.

He once said if he could have his time back he’d invest in beauty business – maybe we are into something!!

JD: Victoria Beckham, as she has built a world-recognised fashion house.

She’s come a long way from the Spice Girls days.

Q. In three words or less, how do you define success?

SG: Achievement and happiness

JD: Strong, growing, positive.

Q. How do you motivate yourself and your staff?

SG: No matter what’s going on, I always try to show the sunny side. I’m a firm believer that if you feel motivated and inspired it will rub off on your staff.

JD: I set goals for myself and write them down so they are visible to me daily. I try to include staff in decision-making to create a feeling of belonging at Renew Clinic and help them feel invested in the company.

Q. How do you relax?

SG: With four children under eight, I find it difficult to get the time to relax but I love spending time with them and doings things as a family and I’ve just started playing tennis again, so I’m enjoying that.

JD: I love to walk and listen to music as it really helps clear the mind.

Q. What’s your motto?

SG: Live life to the full – it can be taken from you at any time.

JD: Learn something from every situation and everyone you work with.

Q. What are your aspirations for the future of your business?

SG: Renew Clinic has grown significantly in the last ten years and we want to continue the success and maintain the high standards of our nurse-led clinics – and maybe open a few more!

JD: To make Renew Aesthetic Clinic the most respected and recognised clinic in Ireland.

Live life to the full – it can be taken from you at any time
