New and notable appointments at HSBC, Matheson, ASAI and BSI Cybersecurity.

Business & Finance highlights notable new appointments from the month of June at HSBC, Matheson, Advertising Standards Authority for Ireland (ASAI),  and BSI Cybersecurity.

Fintan Reilly, Head of Non-Bank Financial Institutions

HSBC

HSBC has appointed Fintan Reilly as Head of Non Bank Financial Institutions as it establishes new relationships with institutions who have located in Ireland.

Mr Reilly joined HSBC from Danske Bank, where he spent the past six years developing the Bank’s institutional base in Ireland.

After starting off his career with AIB, he spent ten years in Bank of Ireland where he led their Institutional Business Development team, working as a joint employee of Bank of Ireland’s corporate banking and global markets divisions to help grow the bank’s institutional presence in Ireland, the UK and US.

John O’Connor, Head of International Subsidiary Banking, HSBC Ireland welcomed Mr Reilly’s arrival saying:

 We are delighted that Fintan has joined our Dublin team. His appointment comes as HSBC increases its focus on providing hands-on local relationship management to Irish financial services companies. With a wealth of valuable experience in this area, Fintan has the expertise to successfully drive this ambition forward. In addition, his leadership in developing institutional relationships through a number of different roles will benefit the Bank’s drive to assist international financial services companies based in Ireland as well as institutions who are new to the Irish market.”

Sharon Daly, Head of London Office

Matheson 

In a strengthening of its presence in London, leading Irish corporate law firm Matheson has announced the appointment of Sharon Daly, who is widely acknowledged as one of Ireland’s leading corporate litigators, as Head of its London office. Ms Daly has re-located from Dublin to London.

Ms Daly is a partner in the Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department, and has over 25 years’ experience in all aspects of insurance litigation and dispute resolution with particular expertise in advising financial institutions and corporate clients in complex, multi-party, multi-jurisdictional commercial disputes.  Ms Daly has been involved in some of the most significant commercial litigation to come before the Irish courts in the last 10 years and was recently named ‘Lawyer of the Year 2019’ for Ireland at the Benchmark Litigation Europe Awards.

Advertising Standards Authority for Ireland 

The Advertising Standards Authority for Ireland (ASAI), is the independent self-regulatory body committed to promoting the highest standards of marketing communications in Ireland.

New ASAI Board Member

Ann Marie Lenihan, CEO of NewsBrands Ireland, will join the ASAI Board with immediate effect and will fulfil her duties in conjunction with her existing role with NewsBrands Ireland. The Board of the ASAI consists of 15 members – the Chairman and four advertiser members, four agency members and six media members.

Ms Lenihan’s international experience includes senior public relations and marketing roles in the UK and South Africa.  She is a member of the board of News Media Europe and holds a degree in psychology from UCD.

Five members were also re-elected to the board of the ASAI which include Colin Leahy, Exterion Media (Media Member), Johnny O’Hanlon, Local Ireland (Media Member), Kate O’Leary, Mindshare, (Agency Member) and Ken Kerr, BBDO Ireland, (Agency Member). Charley Stoney, CEO of IAPI, who joined the Board in 2018 was also re-elected at the AGM as an Agency Member.

New appointment to the Independent Complaints Committee

Clare Mulcahy, Senior Consumer Protection Manager at Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has also been appointed to the organisation’s Independent Complaints Committee.

Ms Mulcahy has over 20 years’ experience on consumer protection regulation issues and is currently responsible for the team who deal with escalated consumer queries both in Ireland and in the EU, working alongside her European counterparts to ensure effective application of consumer protection legislation. Ms Mulcahy holds a degree in Law from Trinity College, a Masters in International Business from UCD and an MBA from Trinity College.

The Complaints Committee is a completely independent arm of the ASAI and is responsible for considering and dealing with complaints submitted by the public, by a member of the ASAI, by a Government Department or any other person or body of persons. 

Dania Elhossamy, Senior Project Manager

BSI Cybersecurity and Information Resilience

BSI has announced the appointment of Dania Elhossamy to the position of Senior Project Manager at their Cybersecurity and Information Resilience centre of excellence in Sandyford, Dublin.

Dania, who has seven years of project management experience in delivering cloud-based security solutions, will be tasked with the development of innovative initiatives as well as client project management and coordination on partner deliverables.  Dania brings a wealth of experience to her role having worked on key projects at BSI Cybersecurity and Information Resilience prior to her promotion to Senior Project Manager. Projects included the lead on the transition to ISO9001:2015 standard as well as the integration of Harmony and Salesforce systems in Ireland and the UK for the organization.

Dania holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Strategic Management and Planning from UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer and Systems Engineering from Ain Shams University. She is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute (PMI). One of her previous roles was as Project Manager at Orange Business Services.
