Business & Finance highlights notable new appointments in recent weeks at Ulster Bank, Phelan Energy Group, Interxion Ireland and Ding

Lorraine Costelloe, Head of Home Buying and Ownership

Ulster Bank

Ulster Bank has appointed Lorraine Costelloe as Head of Home Buying and Ownership to manage and develop the customer mortgage journey from end-to-end. Currently Head of Personal Banking Finance Business Partners at Ulster Bank, Ms. Costelloe has worked in financial services for over 18 years across a number of business areas, including Finance, Treasury Asset & Liability Management and Customer Experience & Products.

A native of Oranmore in Co Galway, Ms. Costelloe is an ACA Qualified Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ireland. Additionally she holds a BSc. in Information Technology from NUI Galway and a Diploma in Financial Services from the Institute of Bankers, Ireland.

Costelloe will build on Ulster Bank’s mortgage proposition including an online self-service portal for mortgage holders called Manage My Mortgage, which amongst other options, enables customers to switch their mortgage products quickly and easily, where eligible.

Louise Phelan, Group Deputy CEO

Phelan Energy Group

Louise Phelan is joining Phelan Energy Group as Group Deputy CEO, having spent thirteen years as Vice President at PayPal.

Ms Phelan left PayPal earlier this year; she had worked in US multinationals for the last thirty years. Having weighed up numerous job offers in the corporate space, she decided to take a different direction and join her brother’s global business.

“I was looking for an opportunity that would enable me to contribute to a different industry and provide new thinking while continuing in a global role,” explained Ms Phelan.

“Two of my core values are family and the environment, so I couldn’t think of a better fit than joining my brother’s company which specialises in harnessing solar power for energy,” continued Ms Phelan.

Louise Phelan

Phelan Energy Group was established in 2005 by Ms Phelan’s brother, Paschal Phelan. It is a international integrated independent solar power producer, developing rapidly deployable, affordable and sustainable energy in over 15 countries worldwide.

The group has invested over US$600m in grid-connected solar plants and has a further US$150m projects under construction. The group has a further pipeline valued at over US$1bn dollars under development. Its headquarters are in Dublin and it has overseas offices in Madrid, Spain; Cape Town, South Africa; New Delhi, India; Dhakka, Bangladesh; Sydney, Australia; Toronto, Canada and Hamburg, Germany.

Ms Phelan currently is a board member of Ryanair and a member of the Voxpro board advisory committee.

Paul Duffy, Head of Finance

Ding

International mobile top-up platform Ding has appointed Paul Duffy as Head of Finance, joining from PwC, where he spent more than a decade in a variety of roles. This includes five years as part of the Assurance team in Dublin, before moving to Boston where he was part of the deals team, specialising in M&A.

Duffy, who will be based in Dublin, brings with him significant accounting and finance experience and will help to manage Ding’s finance function at a time when the company is experiencing double digit growth.

The finance function works across multiple time zones, in over 100 currencies, across a myriad of complex regulatory environments. Duffy will be responsible for ensuring the financial operations continue to be robust and can scale with Ding’s current growth ambitions.

Commenting on the new appointment, Jonathan Rockett, Chief Financial Officer at Ding said: “Finance is a core function for Ding and talented people are at the centre of our business and a key driver of our success. We are in a growth phase as we develop and build out our business and Paul will be a great asset to us both within the finance team but also helping to guide operational and strategic initiatives in the years to come.”

He added: “He brings a wealth of experience both local and international, which complements our existing team very well and will help us move to the next phase as we scale up our business.”

Paul is an alumnus of UCD where he completed his Bachelors of Commerce, and also a Masters of Accounting.

Séamus Dunne, Managing Director

Interxion Ireland

Interxion, a European provider of carrier and cloud-neutral colocation data centre services, has appointed Séamus Dunne as Managing Director of Interxion Ireland.

Before joining Interxion, Séamus held various roles during a successful career with Hewlett-Packard, where his last position was Vice President and General Manager with Hewlett-Packard Enterprise based in both Texas and Ireland.

He led the data centre services business which served customers in 170 countries across diverse vertical’s such as financial services, Government, Digital Media etc. His business unit’s focus was supporting customers’ transitions from traditional IT infrastructure to hybrid cloud solutions.

Séamus Dunne

Commenting on Séamus’ appointment, David Ruberg, Chief Executive Officer of Interxion said: “We are delighted to welcome Séamus to Interxion. Séamus is a skilled business and technology leader with over 30 years of industry experience. His experience in the data center sector, working with overseas markets and driving value for customers are key traits he will bring to his work with us.
