Business & Finance, in association with KPMG, hosted the Business Leaders Forum for this year’s awards shortlist in Platform X yesterday morning.

Business & Finance President and Publisher, Ian Hyland, KPMG’s Managing Partner Seamus Hand and this year’s awards shortlist met yesterday morning for the Business Leaders Forum ahead of the 2023 Business and Finance Awards this Friday 8th December in the CCD.

Imelda Hurley, CEO of Coillte and 2022 Business Person of the Year winner, spoke at the Business Leaders Forum which took place in KPMG’s Innovation Hub Platform X. She spoke about the importance of hope and clarity of purpose as key tenets of leading a team and how leadership can be best tested in challenging times.

This was followed by a roundtable discussion jointly chaired by Business & Finance Awards judging panel chairperson, Frances Ruane, and Ian Hyland. Shortlisted CEOs and business leaders present contributed to the discussion which centred on the theme of leadership and the importance of the voice of business being heard. There was a consensus that leaders have a responsibility to raise their voice and discuss larger issues that affect the population at large and not focus solely on issues that might impact their own business.

Ian Hyland, Business & Finance President, said, “Leadership has never been more important on a number of levels including geopolitically. There is an important bridge between business and business for good.”
