History of the Spiders
The Spider Awards — dubbed “The Oscars of Ireland’s digital industry” — is the longest running digital awards programme in Ireland. 2024 marks the 27th iteration of the annual awards ceremony.
A number of digital luminaries were recognised at last year’s awards including Granite, who won the Large Agency of the Year and An Post who won Best App.
The event sets out to recognise and encourage digital creativity as the awards continue to adapt to a changing society.
Tracey Carney, Managing Director of The Spiders, highlighted the significance of the awards, “In an age of growing reliability on technology and as we welcome it more into our everyday lives, it’s important to celebrate the human elements of these advancements. The creativity and storytelling that, combined with the digital innovations, enhance the way we live and do business.”
Terry Spence, Director of B2B Sales at One4all, said: “We are very excited to be the headline sponsor for this year’s Spider Awards. We ourselves have been in business for over 20 years and fully appreciate the importance of brand recognition and maximising the return on investment on your digital marketing strategies, so on the back of that, I would like to wish all the entrants to this year’s awards the best of luck”.
This year sees the addition of two new exciting categories
- Cultural Driver Award
- Sustainability Impact Award
Tracey Carney explains what they are looking for in the finalists, “The judges aim to recognise those on the cutting edge of their fields and leaders of digitalisation in this country. They are looking for innovative and creative ideas that have a real impact on the digital landscape and transform the way we look at technology. These finalists are a reflection of Ireland’s high standards and ambitions when it comes to digital innovation.”
