Flogas has announced a new multi-year partnership with Circle K Ireland aimed at expanding access to Bio-CNG (Bio-Compressed Natural Gas).
The agreement will increase the availability of low-carbon transport fuel across Ireland. Both Circle K and Flogas customers will be able to refuel using a Flogas CNG fuel card.
Bio-CNG is currently available at Circle K stations in Dublin Port and Clonshaugh, Co. Dublin; Cashel, Co. Tipperary; and Ballysimon Road, Co. Limerick. It is also available at the Flogas Bio-CNG station in Barberstown, Co. Dublin.
Together, the five stations provide nationwide coverage, with up to 820km of range between sites. The network is designed to support fleet and haulage operators seeking to decarbonise, while maintaining operational efficiency along key logistics routes.
Commenting on the partnership, Ciaran Gahan, Energy Services Manager of Flogas, said, “Our renewed partnership with Circle K is about giving our customers greater flexibility, convenience, and transparency. For the first time, Flogas CNG fuel card holders will be able to refuel at every Circle K CNG station nationwide, as well as our own Bio-CNG network, under a single contract with Flogas. Customers can use both Flogas and Circle K-branded cards, and all transactions will be billed centrally for their CNG usage. We will provide detailed sustainability reporting so they can clearly track their carbon savings.”
Aditionally, Flogas has announced a long-term contract with Virginia International Logistics in Co. Cavan. Eight Virginia trucks will be issued with Flogas fuel cards, allowing them to refuel at any Circle K CNG station or Flogas Bio-CNG station nationwide.
Following the announcement, Blaithin Curran, Driver Management from Virginia International Logistics, said, “The ability for our eight new Bio-CNG trucks, and indeed our wider fleet, to refuel with Flogas cards at Circle K stations across the country is a game-changer for convenience and operational efficiency. It makes it easier than ever for Virginia International Logistics to maintain our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint while delivering reliable service for our customers.”
Flogas is boosting Ireland’s renewable gas capacity through a new national offtake agreement with Nephin Renewable Gas. Under the deal, Flogas will purchase all biomethane produced by Nephin’s three anaerobic digestion plants, including a new facility under construction in Ballinrobe, County Mayo.
When fully operational, the plants are expected to produce over 250 gigawatt-hours of sustainable, locally sourced biomethane annually. The partnership not only strengthens Ireland’s domestic energy supply but also highlights Flogas’ commitment to expanding access to lower-carbon, Irish-produced fuels.
