“I don’t believe in regrets and I’m proud of the path I’ve taken” – 60 seconds with Shankar Haridas, Head of Sales at ManageEngine

Shankar Haridas has spent 15 years at ManageEngine, the IT enterprise division of Zoho Corp, working his way from an executive sales professional to Head of Sales.


What was your first job?

My first job was in customer support which taught me lessons about communication, empathy, and problem-solving. I learned how to understand and address customer needs, which later assisted my career in sales. Starting gave me a unique insight into the value of service and client satisfaction.

What pushed you to pursue a career in this field?

I was fascinated by how technology could simplify processes, solve problems, and enhance productivity for organisations. That interest has only grown over the years, and I am fortunate to be part of a company at the forefront of this.

What would you regard as your greatest achievement to date?

Professionally, It has been incredibly fulfilling to drive business in the UK and Ireland, watch our client base expand, and witness the positive impact of our solutions on enterprises across industries. Personally, I am most proud of how I’ve navigated the balance between career and personal life, learning along the way.

Career-wise, would you do anything differently?

I don’t believe in regrets and I’m proud of the path I’ve taken. I’m happy with how my successes and setbacks have shaped me into who I am today. That said, having more guidance and being self-focused during the early stages could have accelerated by growth.

In one sentence, how would you define success?

For me, success is about making a meaningful impact—creating value —whether it’s helping a customer solve their problem or inspiring a team member to reach their potential.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

The best advice I’ve received is to embrace opportunities, even if you feel you aren’t fully prepared. Stepping outside your comfort zone is where real growth happens.

How do you motivate yourself and your staff?

I am fortunate to work in an environment where every day brings something new, and I get to interact with passionate, talented people. I believe in collaboration, where every team member feels valued and empowered. Leading by example, maintaining open communication, and celebrating even small wins help keep everyone motivated and aligned toward common goals.

How do you handle adversity?

I believe in staying calm and analysing the situation. Every challenge brings an opportunity to learn something new about yourself, others, or the situation you’re facing. Adversity can be an excellent teacher if you’re open to it.

How do you relax?

I find relaxation in staying active, which helps me clear my mind. I also love listening to songs while going for walks—it’s a great way to unwind. And of course, I have a weakness for good coffee, which I enjoy whenever I get a peaceful moment to myself.

What are your aspirations for the future of the business?

My goal is to continue to strengthen our presence in the UK and Irish markets by helping organisations across sectors optimise their IT infrastructure. The tremendous potential of technologies like AI and automation means that the future is full of possibilities.
