The launch of Legacy Dublin 2022 took place May 25th in IDA Ireland, Three Park Place, Upper Hatch Street, Dublin 2
Legacy Dublin 2022 is a new initiative organized by the global social enterprise, Common Purpose. The Programme will take place for the first time in Dublin, from October 26 to 28, in a number of key locations around Dublin – including The Foundry, Google. Over three days, a diverse group of 100 young people, aged 18 to 25, will gather to explore the future of their city and imagine what they would like their legacy to be in terms of their human, social and civic impact.
Legacy Dublin 22 is organised in association with headline sponsor, IDA Ireland, and other sponsors, Department of Rural & Community Development, Foróige, Google, Lewis Silkin and NTMA.
The launch today will be followed by an outreach to young people in Dublin to register for a place at Legacy Dublin 2022. The main requirement? A passion for Dublin and an interest in being one of the leaders who will shape its future.
Commenting on Legacy Dublin 2022, Dara Connolly, CEO of Common Purpose said, “Legacy is a unique initiative for empowering young people to have a voice in their future. It has already run in 15 locations around the world to date including Boston, Chicago, Singapore, London and soon to go live in Bangladesh, India and Germany. We are excited to see it taking place in Dublin in 2022, the year of the centenary of the state, a suitable time to look forward as well as back.
“Common Purpose and its partners will bring a really diverse group together: some in employment, some not; some studying, some volunteering, some new to Ireland. The key is for this programme to be as inclusive as possible, allowing the participants to listen and learn from their peers and work on projects together to imagine a ‘city for all’. The ideas that come from these 3 days will be incredible as they have been to date around the world!”
Commenting on IDA Ireland’s support of Legacy Dublin 22, Niah Covell, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Lead at IDA Ireland said: “We are proud to be the headline sponsor of the first Legacy Dublin. The opportunity to have young people come together to discuss issues such as Mental Health, Social Justice, Sustainability, Inclusion is so powerful. We know this group represent the thought leaders of the future – and we want to support an initiative that gives them the time, space and guidance to consider how to make Dublin a city for everyone.”
