James Whitebread, Director of AI,
Overcast

Overcast HQ has announced the appointment of James Whitebread as Director of AI to capitalise on increasing demand for cutting edge video asset management solutions from the world’s largest brands and broadcasters.

With almost a decade of experience in C-suite roles – and a 25-year career in the technology industry – Whitebread will manage the development and build of new AI capabilities within the Overcast HQ platform.

The company, founded by CEO Philippe Brodeur, works with brands including Diageo, Vodafone and Meditel to take control of their video content with a suite of cloud solutions. This appointment follows a $1.2 million bridging round led by angel investors to grow the team and continue product development, ahead of a Series A funding round to turbocharge growth.

The funds will be used to further grow the team and continue AI product development, as the company expands its client footprint across the globe, with Whitebread’s appointment a critical first step.

He commented: “I am really excited to be joining Overcast HQ at this critical stage in its development. Overcast HQ is leading the way in deploying advanced Gen AI workflows to support real business needs in our brand and media enterprise customers.”

“James has a wealth of experience that will be invaluable to our team at this exciting stage of our growth journey,” CEO Philippe Brodeur added.  “He has experience digitising legacy organisations as well as playing a leading role in leading startups through multiple funding rounds, which will prove invaluable in our own growth journey.”

In April, Overcast HQ announced the launch of revolutionary Generative AI capabilities for video asset managers working at the world’s largest brands to automate metadata tagging, find content with conversational search functionality and increase speed to market.

Whitebread continued: “Artificial intelligence is moving from simply a buzzword to a critical solution for optimising businesses in a time of rapid change and evolution. Across our client base of brands and broadcasters, we are witnessing a shift in demand as customers recognise the ability to manage hundreds of terabytes, if not petabytes, of video content.”

Ellie Walshe, Head of Sustainability,
Suir Engineering

Suir Engineering has appointed Ellie Walshe as its new Head of Sustainability, strengthening the company’s commitment to material environmental and social practices.

A former Associate Director and Senior Sustainability Manager at Davy Horizons, the environmental, social and governance (ESG) and Sustainability advisory team within Davy Group, Walshe will lead the development and implementation of Suir Engineering’s sustainability strategy. Her role will focus on mitigating risks and promoting opportunities across all material ESG impacts. Additionally, Walshe will ensure compliance with non-financial reporting requirements, such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the EU Taxonomy.

In her new role, Walshe will ensure that ESG considerations remain central to Suir Engineering’s business strategy. Her expertise and leadership will be crucial in aligning the company’s operations with the evolving sustainability landscape as Suir Engineering continues to expand into international markets.

John Kelly, CEO at Suir Engineering said: “We have made significant strides in our sustainability journey, but we recognise the need to do even more, hence the creation of this new senior role. Walshe’s appointment is a tangible demonstration of our commitment to not only operating more sustainably but to making a real difference in our governance structure. Her expertise in social and environmental management aligns to our objectives and vision for the business and this new role will be central in redefining and driving Suir Engineering’s long-term strategy for Ireland and across Europe.”

Walshe began her sustainability career in 2012 as an Environmental Consultant at Worley Parsons. She then advanced to Environmental Advisor at Costain Group PLC, followed by Senior Sustainability Manager at Mace. Thereafter she was appointed Environmental Manager at mac-group, then Senior Sustainability Manager at Davy Financial Services, before being promoted to Associate Director.

Marking 40 years in business this year, Suir Engineering is headquartered in Waterford with offices in Dublin, the UK, Stockholm, Copenhagen and Frankfurt. The company is one of the leading providers of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation engineering services in Europe operating in four core sectors: pharma, energy & utilities, food & beverage and data centres.
