This week sees new and notable appointments at Royal London Ireland, Ipsen, Suir Engineering, Vantiva, Avacta and Nokia.


Lorraine Ivory-Corr, Senior Broker Consultant,
Royal London Ireland

Royal London Ireland, a life insurance and pensions provider, announced the appointment of Lorraine Ivory-Corr as Senior Broker Consultant. With more than three decades in the industry, Lorraine will help grow its pension business, which launched to market in 2022, alongside its established protection offering.

Prior to taking this role, Lorraine spent nine years as an Account Manager at Aviva (previously Friends First before they merged). Before that, she served as a Premier Wealth Manager with the Bank of Ireland for over eight years. In her new role at Royal London Ireland, Lorraine will be responsible for fostering and strengthening broker relationships across the Southwest and Southeast of the country, including Cork, Waterford, and Wexford. Her focus will be on delivering tailored support and guidance to brokers in relation to both pensions and protection products.

Bénédicte Verley Hudry, Site Head of Dublin,
Ipsen

Ipsen, a biopharmaceutical company which specializes in oncology, rare diseases and neuroscience, appointed Bénédicte Verley Hudry as Site Head of Dublin. Bénédicte joined Ipsen in 2017, starting her career with the company as a Support Production Manager, based in Dreux. Since then, she held multiple roles in Ipsen’s Boulogne-Billancourt and Wrexham sites, including Head of Manufacturing 4.0. Over her 20-year career, Bénédicte has managed large manufacturing and packaging, engineering, and supply chain departments across several life science companies such as Arko Pharma, Ethypharm, OCP by Phoenix Group, Delpharm and Boiron.

Bénédicte holds a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) from Université Paris Descartes and a Master’s in Biotechnology. She was also shortlisted for the Women in Pharma Award by the Pharma Industry Awards UK 2024, recognising the exceptional achievements of women who have made significant contributions to the pharmaceutical industry, through demonstrating leadership, innovation, and excellence in their roles.

Peter Browne, Head of Strategy,
Suir Engineering

Suir Engineering, one of Ireland’s engineering services providers, appointed Peter Browne as Head of Strategy. The move follows Peter Browne’s three-year tenure as Head of Strategy at specialist construction management company mac-group and, more recently, as Head of Business Development at Belfast-based construction company Portview. In total, Peter brings over 20 years of industry experience to this new role.

His role will focus on detailed market research and analysis, identifying new business opportunities and positioning the company for international market expansion and growth. Additionally, Peter will oversee the marketing and business development functions, ensuring focus on key clients and effective communication of the business proposition. He will also assess the viability of Suir Engineering’s new market expansion, working closely with the board and business unit directors to ensure the company is positioned to exploit the opportunities afforded by the growth in key market sectors both locally and internationally.

Headquartered in Waterford and with offices in Dublin, London, Manchester, Stockholm, Copenhagen and Frankfurt, Suir Engineering provides mechanical, electrical and instrumental engineering services in Europe. It operates in four core sectors: life sciences, energy, power and renewables, food and beverage and data centres.

Tim O’Loughlin, Chief Executive Officer,
Vantiva

Vantiva, a global technology company enabling network service providers to connect consumers worldwide, announces the appointment of Tim O’Loughlin as CEO. With over 20 years of corporate leadership experience, Tim brings significant expertise in strategic hardware and enterprise software technology markets. Most notably, he spent 18 years in senior leadership roles with two companies recently acquired by Vantiva: ARRIS and Pace. Since January 2, 2024, Tim has served as Senior Vice President of the Americas Customer Unit for Vantiva.

Tim O’Loughlin will operationalize the role from Vantiva’s offices in Paris, France, and Norcross, Georgia, USA.

Michelle Morrow, Chief Scientific Officer,                                                                                                   Avacta Group

Avacta Group plc, a life sciences company developing oncology drugs, announced the appointment of seasoned scientific leader Michelle Morrow, PhD as Chief Scientific Officer effective from November 4, 2024. Dr. Morrow brings nearly 20 years of experience in oncology therapeutics and antibody research at both biotech and pharmaceutical companies. She will fill a key role in the management team at Avacta as the Company evolves into a therapeutics-focused biotech.

She most recently served at invoX Pharma as Senior Vice President (SVP), Head of invoX Therapeutics Innovation, leading a discovery and preclinical research team that was established following the Company’s acquisition of F-star Therapeutics, where she held the position of SVP, Head of Research. During her time at F-star, Dr. Morrow made significant contributions to progressing bispecific candidates from discovery into clinical trials and led F-star’s biology and translational research functions. Prior to that, she established an immuno-oncology preclinical modelling group supporting projects across the Medimmune and AstraZeneca portfolio and held Discovery Project Leader roles for Imfinzi®, an approved anti-PD-L1 antibody, and volrustomig, an anti- PD-1/CTLA-4 bispecific antibody.

Mikko Hautala, Chief Geopolitical and Government Relations Officer,                                                             Nokia

Nokia, announced the appointment of the Former Finland ambassador to the U.S. Mikko Hautala to Chief Geopolitical and Government Relations Officer and member of the Group Leadership Team, effective November 1, 2024. As the impact geopolitics has on Nokia’s business continues to grow, the company has taken the decision to establish the new role of Chief Geopolitical and Government Relations Officer. Mikko Hautala has been appointed to this role and will be based in Espoo, Finland, reporting to Pekka Lundmark.

Hautala as as Finland’s ambassador to the United States and to Russia, has over two decades of government experience in prominent roles across the world. He held a range of government roles, including foreign policy advisor to Finland’s former President Sauli Niinistö.

Louise Fisk, Chief Communications Officer,                                                                                                Nokia

Nokia, announced the promotion of Louise Fisk to Chief Communications Officer, effective immediately. She will continue to be based in London, U.K. and report to Pekka Lundmark. Fisk’s previous role at Nokia was VP, Corporate Affairs Programs & Corporate Communications. Before joining Nokia, she worked in a number of senior leadership roles, including BAE Systems Applied Intelligence and Logica.
