Rachael Blackmore to be honoured with Outstanding Contribution to Brand Ireland award

Rachael Blackmore is set to receive the Outstanding Contribution to Brand Ireland award at this year’s Business & Finance Awards. The 48th Business & Finance Awards will take place on December 1st at the Convention Centre, Dublin.


Champion Jockey Rachael Blackmore will be honoured with the Outstanding Contribution to Brand Ireland award at the 2022 Business & Finance Awards in association with KPMG.

Announcing the 2022 recipient of the Outstanding Contribution to Brand Ireland, Business & Finance President & Publisher, Ian Hyland said:

“Rachael has been an incredible Ambassador for Ireland internationally through her outstanding achievements as a Jockey and Sportsperson, reinforcing Brand Ireland worldwide. We are very much looking forward to honouring Rachael with this very special recognition in the company of over 1000 international business, political and social leaders on December 1st in Dublin.”

Trailblazing sport star

Rachael Blackmore has made a habit of creating history throughout her career. In March 2021, she rode a winner in the Champion Hurdle on Irish-trained horse, Honeysuckle, at Cheltenham Festival. She also won the Ruby Walsh Trophy for leading jockey, riding an incredible 6 winners across the four days at Cheltenham.

Less than a month later, Blackmore won the Aintree Grand National, widely regarded as horse racing’s biggest and toughest race. She hurdled 30 fences and beat 40 riders as she rode Minella Times home to victory in front of an estimated TV audience of over 600 million.

To supplement her numerous trophies won on the racetrack, Blackmore has also claimed a number of personal accolades. This includes BBC World Sport Star, RTE Sportsperson, Irish Times Sportswoman, Irish Independent Sportsperson, Her Sport Sportswoman and Horse Racing Ireland’s Racing Hero Award.

Blackmore returned to Cheltenham in March 2022, where not only did she defend the Champion Chase, she became the first female ever to win one of the most coveted races in National Hunt: The Cheltenham Gold Cup. Blackmore’s career and successes have been achieved through hard work, determination and resilience.

Business & Finance Awards

Business & Finance was launched in 1964 as Ireland’s first business magazine with the Awards programme established a decade later. The Business & Finance Awards is Ireland’s premier business awards programme and includes among its previous honorees outstanding leaders of our time across business, politics and wider society. The 2022 Company of the Year; Business Person of the Year; Elevation Award in association with Enterprise Ireland; FDI of the Year and the Diversity, Equality & Inclusion Award. The D,E&I Award is now in its fourth year.

2021 also saw the introduction of a new award, the Environmental & Social Governance award.
