What was your first job?
My first job was working as an insurance clerk in Sun Alliance.
What pushed you to pursue a career in this field?
I developed one of Ireland’s first e-business courses in the late 90s. Whilst doing so, I found I caught the internet bug in the process!
What would you regard as your greatest achievement to date?
Most likely building Bill Winner. It’s always a work in progress but if we can complete our vision for it, we are confident we can deliver the best money management app in the market.
Career wise, would you do anything differently?
I think If I had shifted direction, I would have liked a career in law.
Can you define success in one sentence?
Success for me would be to become the number one money management app in the market through superior innovation and service.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
“Don’t sweat the small stuff”
How do you motivate yourself and your staff?
We motivate our team by reminding them of the end goal and also that success is shared. As a team we just want to develop the best application in the world within our domain.
How do you handle adversity?
I would say we handle it through resilience, determination and teamwork.
How do you relax?
I enjoy walking, going to the gym and reading.
What is your favourite (non-business) book?
Adrian Goldsworthy, Augustus.
What are your aspirations for the future of the business?
At Bill Winner our long term goal is to create the best application in the world for consumers to manage and make decisions for their household bills. I believe that consumers will see immense change in the world of household financial decisions before the end of the decade as a result of the power of AI.
