Ones to Watch: BonzaQuote

Ones to Watch header

Business & Finance highlights some of the top movers and shakers in Ireland.

What is it?

BonzaQuote is the online marketplace and community for do-it-yourselfers (DIYers). The online platform provides DIYers with all the advice and products they need to complete any DIY project. BonzaQuote’s innovative price comparison functionality also enables DIYers to compare products across the leading retailers.

BonzaQuote is working with the leading DIY/home improvement retailers in Ireland and the UK and was selected from thousands of international companies for Silicon Valley’s leading accelerator programme for international start-ups: the Blackbox Connect Programme in Palo Alto in 2015.

Who’s behind it?

BonzaQuote was founded by Jack and Tess Drea in 2015 after becoming frustrated with having to physically visit multiple DIY retailers to find the advice and products they needed to complete their DIY projects.

Jack previously worked in London and Dublin in leadership positions with multinational companies including Accenture and Microsoft. Tess is a qualified solicitor and has worked in senior positions with Channel 4 in London and Brown Bag Films in Dublin. Jack comes from a family construction business and both have in-depth experience of completing large-scale DIY home renovation projects.

How is it funded?

BonzaQuote was initially self-financed and is now an Enterprise Ireland backed High Potential Start-Up and is currently in the middle of a funding round to support its expansion.

Future plans?

BonzaQuote is launching in the UK in Q2 2016 and has ambitious expansion plans in the UK market with future expansion planned for North America. BonzaQuote will also be developing new innovative functionality for both DIYers and DIY retailers.
